I'm in heaven.

Excellently, sturdy push backs (that function perfectly) hold a smaller circular diamond cluster leading to a line of five independent bezel set diamonds attached by loop to allow movement from piece to piece. This leads down to the large round clusters which are also attached by a loop to dangle freely to catch the light. These fabulous clusters hold a half carat old mine cut in the center surrounded by two halos of old single cuts, each range slightly elevated above the next, to it to give the earrings a delicate dome. The halos are complete with milgrain details.

So bright and sparkly with a timeless design and still an eye catching antique look. Found in Paris, they have the French hallmarks on the posts and on the push backs for all parts 18k white gold. The posts are also stamped 750 which is the numerical hallmarking system used in Europe for 18k gold.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers draw them out to hold against the person to determine how they wear. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:

Top of ear post to bottom of each is 40mm. Each round cluster is 13.5mm east west. They dome 5mm deep. The pair weighs a sturdy 9.3 grams.

There are 45 diamonds on each earring. The center largest old mine cut diamonds are 4.7mm each and about a half a carat. Each earring has six diamonds that measure about 2.5mm each (in the center of the stud and the five in the line leading to the cluster). The outside scalloped halo holds 18 diamonds and the inside ring holds 14 stones, all about 2mm each give or take. Then there are six smaller stones in the halo of each stud measuring about 1.5mm. Exact carat weight is not known as depths vary and I would never remove them but estimates to around four carats total weight in diamonds for the pair (2 carats tdw each earring).

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition.

All original condition. I don't see any welds or repairs, everything appears sturdily set and none of the stones move even slightly so really nice condition.

Typical antique diamonds with some natural inclusions, some of the smaller stones appearing quite frosty overall but with an excellent sparkle. One earring has two stones at the bottom with a shallow flake of loss leaving a frosty surface to part of the stone. The stones still appear compete and round to the eye as they fill the bezel space, but if you catch the surface up close in a reflection you can see the unpolished, frosty area where the flake of loss occurred. No large chips and no cracks, and really nothing glaring. The rest of the wear is just a nibble or flea bite here or there but this is not seen except with a loupe / strong magnification. Considering age - all things we expect to see on old cut diamonds. They have a very nice bright white sparkle overall but with some warmer stones including some warmth to the largest center stones, typical for antique old mine cut diamonds from the period when rough cuts came from mines that produced warmer stones. A few are an almost pale champagne in color - very beautiful, I love finding warm hues in my antique diamonds. I and many other collectors prefer them over the more common whites. Attention grabbing and wearable to dress up or down.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. The antique diamonds have a custom cut that I can't really even name. The backs are flat like rose cuts, but the tops are more like old mine cuts - with a large, elongated table facet. Below the large table is a single row of long, triangular scissor cut facets around the outside edge giving them a soft antique sparkle.

The look is similar to a rose cut, but rose cuts dome without a table facet so it some sort of combination of cutting styles. And while they are elongated in shape, they are completely organic, sort of a freeform rectangular cushion cut. Certainly hand cut, as diamond cutters at the time used their personal knowledge, taste and expertise to enhance each diamond. It is always fun to find when they are uniquely cut!

Very sweet and minimalist / dainty (please note the measurements). They are small but mighty in their interest! Set in 18k yellow gold with screw backs that tighten all the way to the back.

I purchased these in France. Both the posts and the screw backs have French hallmarks for 18k gold, fortunately not affecting the threading of the screw back posts which still function well.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
They are dainty.
About 4.5 by 3.7mm for each stone, one with more depth than the other, but both with flat backs and no pavilions so it is not possible to calculate carat weight without removing them to weight. Like all stones with flat backs they have a lower carat weight but face up spreadier / larger than they are - appearing as around .3 carat each by millimeter.

The pair weigh just 1.15 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Freeform in shape. They have very large frosted girdles, one with a rougher edge, and a few tiny nibbles here or there not really eye visible because they are small and the stones are well surrounded in the prongs. Eye clean with no glaring inclusions. The settings are open backed in that the diamonds are suspended in the prongs, but rather than the setting having an open circle below / behind stones, it is a flat disk of gold - this gives an appearance of enhanced warmth to the stones as you can look through the large table facets of the flat back diamonds, through to the gold setting below. But again, they are not closed back or foiled.

The screw backs spin quite freely without a ton of tension but the threaded posts are still sturdy and secure so they don't slip or slide. They have a little hinged "handle" to the screw backs, so that you can flip that to the side and screw them in tightly, all the way to the back of the earring if desired. Hard to explain, a unique fabrication.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. Beautifully fabricated with two round bezel set stones fixed to the lever back ear wire portions. These are then connected by loop to the teardrop dangles which move freely to catch the light. I have a teardrop pendant coming up that would match well with these also.

These are fun because we can see a slight variation in color between the natural antique garnets, the teardrops reading a bit richer red where the smaller stones being thinner read a bit more purple pinkish. A very unique and interesting design!

There are 26 diamonds on each earring totaling around 2 1/2 carats for the pair. The larger ones are old mine cuts with the smaller accent stones in the circular part being rose cuts and old single cuts.

When I was in Barcelona, I altered my travel plans to make it back to a shop to buy an angled emerald ring listed previously. I was also originally planning to buy another ring but as I was visiting again with the lovely gentleman (who was so kind and patient enough to practice Spanish with me), he remembered he had something in the back he wanted to show me.

He came out with these earrings and they definitely stopped me in my tracks. I haven't seen any like them. Crafted in 18k gold and topped in likely platinum, they are set with a larger old mine cut diamond at the center with an openwork star or floral design, lots of diamonds and little milgrain details. Then at the top is a sort of crown of five additional bezel set diamonds. Just gorgeous to wear.

Edwardian era to Art Deco period / early 1900s I presume. They are so lovely! Despite the diamonds being set in a white precious metal as was customary for the period, these still have a warm glow from the gold shining through the recesses of the openwork design. So these could really be styled with any color of metals.

No hallmarks that I can find, which seemed to be the case with a lot of the pieces I bought in Spain, I guess they weren't as strict about it. But all the pieces I purchased were 18k and tested to confirm, and of course purchased from reputable places. The ear posts are fixed and straight, with a lever back that clicks / latches into them.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers draw them out to hold against the person to determine how they wear. The pair weighs a sturdy 7.3 grams.

There are 26 diamonds on each earring. The center largest old mine cut diamonds are 4mm each and a little over .25 carat. The largest at the center of the "crown" are about 3.7mm each. The other four in the crown of each earring are about 2.5mm each. The old mines in the petals are 1.8mm and the rest of the rose cuts are 1.5 to 1.8mm. Exact carat weight is not known as depths vary and I would never remove them but estimates to 1.25 carat per earring / 2.5 carats for the pair.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Typical antique diamonds with some natural inclusions, some of the stones appearing quite frosty overall but still with an excellent sparkle. The largest stones also have eye visible to slightly eye visible inclusions, including some indented natural inclusions on the surface of two of them. All the stones are complete but the rose cuts are rougher cut with frosty and irregular edges (they most often look this way on pieces of this age). Again all typical as they didn't pay attention to any sort of grading scales back then, when stones were in much more limited supply. When worn the diamonds look beautiful, bright and well matching with plenty of sparkle due to the sheer magnitude of them. Two of the rose cuts, one on the right side of one earring and the left side of the other, have a bit of warmth in that area that appears in some lighting conditions. I don't know if it was reinforced or if it is just the stone as they are so small that even under magnification I can't detect what is causing that but you might notice it in some of the photos. The hinged backs aren't springy but they latch so they are secure. I don't ever recommend 24/7 wear on antique earrings though due to age.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. But they function well and are very wearable. They have a really great color and clarity (even though they were cut long before the 4 C's ever existed.). The top rose cuts are typical antique diamonds with some warmth due to the setting. The hinges still lock right into place. Beautiful French antique earrings. But my disclaimer as with all my pre-owned pieces - Please note this is not a new / mint condition item. These are my favorite kinds of diamonds - chunky, hand cut old mine cuts that are a little bit wonky in their freeform nature, with that delicious warm to pale yellow color. I love to find that subtle hue in my antique diamonds, knowing they were hand cut during a period when the mines from which they were cut generally produced warmer colored stones.

They are set in very minimalist settings, with just four small prongs holding the stones and a cupped back which still allows the diamonds to catch the light from all angles. To me, the settings become almost invisible, giving the appearance of diamonds floating off the ear. The settings and push backs appear later / more modern while the diamonds are antique.

The diamond seems to vary in hue based on the lighting. They aren't a vibrant fancy yellow so in ambient light, it appears as a slight warmth and they sometimes face up quite white. Then the yellow hue brightens in sunlight, and under lit magnification. Hopefully the photos in various ambient and sunny lighting conditions give you an idea of how they respond. What wonderful stones!

Would be a beautiful something old for a bride.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos with the zoom pictures I am required to present.

Lots of hallmarks! Found in France with their hallmarks for 18k on the posts and the push backs so there are four stamps in all.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
I don't remove stones from their settings for exact carat weights but estimated total carat weight is about 1.3 carat. Each stone is about 5.2mm cushion cut, just slightly oblong.

They are a chunky cut with high crowns and deep pavilions so they are actually higher in carat weight than they face up to be, due to their depth, estimating about .65 carat each. They weigh 1.3 grams combined.

The back of the bezel setting measuring up to holding the diamonds stands 5mm off the earlobe.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

One stone has a crystal inclusion which carries up to the surface leaving a small indented natural inclusion which appears as a tiny crease. The crease is not really visible but the crystal can sometimes catch the light. That stone also has a smaller indented natural inclusion at the tip of one facet, and some tiny carbon specks on one side, right at the area where the girdle of the stone widens out. These latter notes are not eye visible and seen only under magnification. The other stone is cleaner with some smaller crystal inclusions in one area that do not reach the surface are are slightly eye visible. As mentioned, the cupped backs are closed and encase the open culet at the base of the stone. I noticed on one when you look through the stone under magnification, you can see the white gold work and its texture, compared to a stone in an open back setting where it is clear looking through the culet. This is not a condition issue but just how the piece was fabricated. All of these notes are not glaring but can only be detected if you are seeking it out.

One prong has a notch in it but there is plenty of gold still there to hold it. I still tend to not recommend 24/7 wear, though the four prongs do overlap each edge of the stone nicely.

The push backs are very very tight and take some tactile pressure to notch them in. This makes them super secure to wear but just wanted to note that. It's also possible for jewelers to use a tiny drill to widen if you want them to go on a little easier.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Aside from being a highly sought after old mine cut pair, my favorite thing about them is their slight variations to the stones giving the pair an organic feel. Knowing the diamonds were hand cut and that no two are ever exactly alike makes them truly one of a kind. One is a more elongated old mine cushion cut while the other is slightly more squared old mine cushion cut. Yet on opposite sides of the head, and even side by side, they look quite lovely together.

The diamonds and their elegant crown settings are antique the push backs are definitely later and I assume the ear posts as well. I got them in France where the standard is 18k and the prongs / basket settings holding the diamonds test at 18k, but the ear posts and push backs are 9k gold and stamped as such so likely converted later. The patinas are well matching but when off the ear, you can study the back and see where the ear post was welded onto the inside rim of the setting on one side. This is not visible while wearing and there are no uneven areas, welds or solder visible when wearing them as again they were affixed inside the setting.

I don't prefer to grade my antique diamonds with the Four C's grading scale which came about way later for machine cut diamonds with mathematically perfected facets. The scale does not do antique stones justice as they were expertly hand cut in a much more limited supply compared to the millions of carats of machine cut diamonds made each year now. Their uniqueness and quirks are expected and part of their charm, but I will say these have a very bright color and better than most fire, they are quite full of full (in my opinion as someone who looks at antique diamonds every day).

Would be a beautiful something old for a bride.

Antique box not included. To be honest, it almost looked like the pin back was a later addition to these gorgeous gold settings because the pin post was metal and not up to the quality of the settings, so I am not sure what this was originally in antiquity. If only we knew the stories these pieces could tell. I just fell in love with it for its ornate enamel back and decided to buy the broken brooch to make it into something ready to wear today.

This one had a unique fabrication in that the piece was made with separate components, each affixed to a bracket that held then held the pin back. Removing the pin back caused the components to separate so seeing that, we thought they'd make a fabulous pair of one of a kind earrings. With the additional bonus of them being in great condition because as a brooch the piece was rarely / gently worn.

Special Georgian era dangles in high carat gold, testing at at least 18k gold with vibrant green emerald at the center and table cut diamonds on the feather or leaf like extensions. Flipping them over we see the gorgeous enamel work which is white with pink floral looking designs and black linear details.

The piece looked Iberian to me but I am actually now not sure its origin as many countries in Europe created Renaissance revival pieces with the old enameling during the Georgian period. Those gorgeous enamel backs are like a little hidden surprise on these fabulous pieces. And I love to find that period appropriate pie crust design detail which is seen on these around the domed settings holding the center emeralds. So special! And of course table cuts being another treat to find, as one of the earlier diamond cutting methods used in the 17th and 18th centuries.

The ear wires are later of course, in 14k gold and hallmarked, providing a good match in hue to the glowing and rich antique gold of the dangles.

Very sturdy hand feel and ready for regular wear (although we avoid getting the closed back settings wet.)

Antique box is not included. Aside from that, typical age related wear with a few nicks and nibbles to the emeralds that still appear vibrant in color with a nice sheen and polish (they are not dull or matte finished). The table cuts also typical in closed back settings with natural inclusions, some gray hues due to the closed back and minimal faceting and some natural inclusions, set in the glowing gold cut down collets.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Typical antique diamonds, one has a smattering of carbon, the other some faint frosty specks. We expect to find this on stones from the period having been cut in much more limited supply. This is no glaring while wearing as the stones aren't very large so much of it is lost in the faceting until you really study them.

They are 150+ years old with old gold hinges so we don't recommend for 24/7 wear but they are surprisingly sturdy for age. It has no spring loaded snap back and little tension remains so when handling the back flops open and closed but it has a hooked end that Does latch into the lever so once closed, it stays closed to the extent that it even snaps into place. Gentle handling to the 100 year old hinge is required though as it could snap if too much pressure is provided, in which case you'd maybe have to turn it into a pendant (still highly sought after, but hinges can be tough to repair). I will say these are the easier earrings to insert as the ear wire is fixed and entered at the front of the ear, vs. some of the dormeuse that enter from the back of the ear and have to latch - these are easier to handle. Sold as is - 24/7 and overnight wear definitely not recommended.

Typical antique diamonds both with natural inclusions slightly eye visible. The diamonds are eye clean with just a few very faint inclusions, a speck or cloudy spot here or there seen only under strong magnification. No chips or damage. I little bit of wear to one or two prongs but the stones are well surrounded and well held.

Typical antique diamonds displaying a slight warmth in some light but they are bright and lively. You can push them in slightly tighter than the notched posts but they aren't as tight there as when they are latched into the notch at the end of the post. Either way they can't be removed without the push button action to take them off. I only mention this to say that with this type of push back, you can't pinch them close to the earlobe if that makes sense.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Mr. Mouse and I were there for a sourcing trip but also for a bit of time to get into the Christmas spirit, as visiting the Christmas markets of the various cities has always been on my bucket list. Checkmark! ; )

These earrings really jumped out at me when I saw them in the window in Prague. Not only are the diamonds each a nice size, bright and sparkly, and eye clean - but the settings allow the earrings to cover even more real estate below the ear with the addition of the large halo surrounding each bezel set stone. So they are quite fabulous and impactful to wear compared to many of the dainty dormeuse out there.

With the open work space in between they aren't really an illusion setting, (although the bezel settings do add a bit of size to the diamond to the eye), but they have a larger footprint when worn because of the wonderful bullseye / target design to them. I noticed this design a lot in Prague and Bavaria, the circular halo forms, and came to learn quickly that it was a popular design for the antique period as it really carried over between cities.

We also saw some with an additional circle above, which I was informed lead them to be referred to as "snowmen" : ). A design that continues to be popular and sought after there today as I was told that people would often come in to the shop asking, "do you have any snowmen"?

This pair has only the one halo so I suppose it would be classified as a half snowman, or a snowman belly - tee hee. But nice and firm / springy lever backs with ear wires that are inserted at the front of the ear, with a hooked end to latch into the back. These are in excellent shape with the sturdy lever / latches, in the classic dormeuse dangle design with the ear wires leading down to the fixed halo settings. Easier to wear than the ones inserted from the back, and such a classic antique earring design.

Comes as pictured in an antique box, which is also collectible / valuable on its own with us antique jewelry enthusiasts. I noticed in some of the box pics the ear wires look like different sizes but they are not, it was just the angle of them in the box, they are uniform in form.

No hallmarks remain but - These come with a certificate from the assay office in the Czech Republic where the metal was tested and verified to be 720/1000. (which is a little under 18k, in this case 17.3 karat yellow gold). We often see these numerical hallmarks on European pieces where a three digit number is used to represent the parts per thousand of gold (18k being 750, 14k being 585, etc.). And then the halos are topped in 925 (our sterling standard) silver which is also stated on the certificate. This was customary for the antique period to have pieces crafted in yellow gold, but the settings topped in silver, platinum or white gold as it was thought to better accent the diamonds. The certificate has no info on the stones or age, etc. but still a very fun provenance to have the certificate with them, typed in Czech, stamped and signed to verify their authenticity and origin.

Really beautiful and interesting settings with bright and sparkling diamonds. Would be a beautiful something old for a bride.

Antique box IS included. There is some overlap of the bezel over the outside edge of the stone so this is an estimate as I don't remove stones from their settings for exact measuring. One is slightly deeper than the other measuring just under 1 carat while the other is about .87 carat. Total carat weight being around 1.85 carat all together.
This pair of earrings weighs 3.75 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The antique diamonds are wonderful - both eye clean and lively, one with a tiny carbon speck smaller than a pinhead seen only under strong magnification and nothing really detectable at all in the other. Slight warmth typical for the period when viewed from the side under magnification, but facing up brighter so no detectible warmth or yellow hues while wearing.

The bezels are a bit uneven from age and wear. We can see the girdle edge of the stone under strong magnification so the stones are not completely surrounded on all sides by the bezel. For that reason I don't recommend 24/7 wear (and typically almost never do on these pieces that are over 100 years old unless they have already been fortified).

Tight and springy hinges, better than many dormeuse that can be found. They snap closed and wear securely.

I don't prefer to grade my antique diamonds with the Four C's grading scale which came about way later for machine cut diamonds with mathematically perfected facets. The scale does not do antique stones justice as they were expertly hand cut to their best advantage, in a much more limited supply compared to the millions of carats of machine cut diamonds made each year now. Their uniqueness and quirks are expected and part of their charm, but do read the detailed notes. My items do very well without paperwork so there is no certification included for the diamonds since the scales don't apply very well to these one of a kind stones anyway. Mr. Mouse and I were there for a sourcing trip but also for a bit of time to get into the Christmas spirit, as visiting the Christmas markets of the various cities has always been on my bucket list. Checkmark! ; )

Antique halo settings are always very popular in my shop and these earrings have a little something extra with the floral scallop dangles and leaf details. Set with natural rubies and rose cut diamonds, they are sturdy and eye catching with beautiful color and sparkle.

The rubies are natural and the diamonds are mostly all old single cuts with the center stones being transitional cuts. While they are very Victorian in look, the transitional cut diamonds put them later into the Art Deco period. One ruby is missing but I didn't find it super glaring so I decided to sell them as is since the halos still appear mostly complete. The ear wires have a hook at the back to serve as a catch.

No hallmarks remain but - These come with a certificate from the assay office in the Czech Republic where the metal was tested and verified to be 333 (which 9k) for the ear wires, 585 (which is 14k) for the floral dangles and topped in 925 sterling silver. We often see these numerical hallmarks on European pieces where a three digit number is used to represent the parts per thousand of gold (14k being 585, etc.). The certificate is typed in Czech but I use google translate and the numerical details are clear as well.

This fabrication was customary for the antique period to have pieces crafted in yellow gold, but the settings topped in silver, platinum or white gold as it was thought to better accent the diamonds. The certificate has no info on the stones or age, etc. but still a very fun provenance to have the certificate with them, typed in Czech, stamped and signed to verify their authenticity and origin.

Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

They measure about 39mm top to bottom from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the halo. The delicious 2.2 carats of antique old mine cuts are set in buttery 18k gold bezel settings, each one attached by loop to the next. This allows for each setting to move independently for the most beautiful dangle!

I got these in France, I know the diamonds are antique, but again the all yellow gold settings are uncommon so the stones may have been re-set in the vintage period. They are wonderful, my favorite parts are the slightly varying hues to the antique diamonds, one even being a gorgeous fancy light yellow, some of the others with a slight warmth. This isn't really glaring in ambient light but they do light up a bit in the sun which I find so lovely. Always fun to find unique quirks in antique diamonds, each one of a kind!

These have French hallmarks on the posts of each, one push back is stamped "England" and the other push back is stamped 14k, so one or both are definitely replacements but they function well and are really tight. I always wish I knew the stories these pieces could tell. One earring has larger stones at the bottom than the other, and the other with the smaller stones at the bottom, have larger stones at the top, so they kind of balance each other out : ) These differences aren't noticeable when worn because we are talking about a fraction of a millimeter difference, I only noticed it when I took a caliper to each stone.

Typical antique diamonds with natural inclusions and some frosty spots. Each of the diamonds individually are small so this is not very evident to the eye. They have a lovely sparkle. Everything else is less so. Nothing really glaring while wearing but I always do a detailed diamond report after studying each stone under magnification. These are around .7 carat total weight for the pair. I love the design with the ruffled illusion setting - it surrounds the base of the stones in the white metal to make them appear larger to the eye. From the ruffled halo extend long prongs that prop up each diamond to catch the light.

Set in 18k white gold, the push backs are the Alpa Mecan brand with the push buttons. Due to age and wear they do not latch at the ends of the ear posts any more, but they can be pushed in all the way to the back of the earring to be worn like normal push backs. They have enough tension to hold but I would advise against 24/7 wear with these since they don't fully latch, rather the backs just stay on with tension like any other push back. (It is also possible to swap the push backs out if desired).

Would be a beautiful something old for a bride.

Antique box not included.
Found in France with their hallmarks for 18k on the push backs, along with goldsmith stamp and Mecan maker's marks.

Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos with the zoom pictures I am required to present.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Each stone is about 4.3-4.4mm depending on where you measure. I can't get an accurate measurement of the depth in the settings but they are each about .33-.37 carat, around .7 carat total for the pair. They weigh 2.4 grams combined. The settings holding the diamonds are 8mm in diameter and stands 4.9mm off the earlobe.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

As with all my pieces these are in estate condition. See notes above about the push backs. Prongs are excellent so each diamond is very well held.

They are eye clean but one can reflect its large frosted girdle a bit under magnification. Nothing glaring, no dark carbon. Only some small faint speck inclusions under magnification. Typical antique diamonds with the tiniest bit of warmth but again not noticeable to the eye, they are not lifeless or dull in any way. One has a small nibble to the girdle edge between two prongs but this is not really seen by the eye, the stone still appears complete / round and fills the pronged setting. It seems to be the result of an indented natural inclusion there that extends slightly towards the pavilion on the underside of the stone but again this is seen more under magnification than to the eye, aside from being a tiny bit frosty there if you have great eye sight and are seeking it out.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. The curved gold depth of the hoops that are stamped with the stars are 8.6mm at the largest. Combined weight is 3 grams so while they have a nice coverage, they don't have a super heavy hand feel, having been made with a thick sheet of 18k gold that is curved and can flex a bit when pressure is applied.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The catches function very well but they do have signs of age and preowned wear. There are shallow dings to the back of both of them, up near the hinges and the front sides where they clip in also show signs of wear, although the front sides are more of a ripple here or there. You can see wear to the stars as well that are slightly softened in form. The hinges are not tight in that they can move side to side while open so for that reason they need a gentle hand, but once they are clipped into place they are clipped sturdily and never open on their own without again applying pressure as the tension of the ear wire clips it into place. The stone still fills the setting completely and is fully round and it is stable, but when you study the surface you can see the unpolished areas. The rest are fun chunky old mine cut diamonds. With nicely domed dutch rose cuts that emit a beautiful glitter and bright white color and with open backed settings compared to many rose cuts we see that are closed and foiled (which can age over time). These are of a size and scale that are perfect to dress up or down. I love these - a classic antique look that remains so timeless and wearable. They face up at about 1.7 carat total (actual carat weight is less as they are rose cuts with more surface area and flat backs.)

These are all original French earrings from the Victorian period. These are often dainty and petite (they are translated "sleepers" in French because they were originally meant to be worn overnight : ) so please note the measurements. Of course we don't recommend 24/7 wear on these old pieces now due to age. These are intricate 125 year old gold hinges so it takes some practice and tactile strength to latch them while on the ear, just like all dormouse - but they remain super popular.

Antique box is not included but I have a cool antique pin box I can lay these in so it will come in some collectible period appropriate housing : )
Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

The clusters are 9.3mm in diameter. I would not remove them for exact weight. Like most rose cuts they face up larger than their actual carat weight with their flat backs and domed tops. So they wear as the appearance of 1.7 carat combined / total.

The pair weighs 3 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
This pair is one of the best I've had in terms of the hinges and latches. The hinges don't wobble, the latches latch securely so from a latch perspective this is as good as I can find for 125+ year old pieces.. Having said that, there is some wear to the prongs, most especially to the outside edge ones holding the diamonds so we recommend gentle wear. The center stones are well set but the outlining diamonds are less secure. None of the stones move and some reinforcing can always be done, but this can sometimes muddy the appearance and overwork the piece so I am selling them as is, as most of my buyers prefer original condition. I pretty much always recommend gentler wear on my 100+ year old pieces with multiple small stones, but again once put on, these are in no danger of falling off.

The rose cuts have a bright color, a lovely rainbow fire and a nice dome where they are suspended with open backs to catch the light. We do see some typical antique diamond quirks - some faint frosty inclusions, an unpolished girdle edge, non uniform shapes and sizes and a few with a chip to the outside edge but rose cuts from this period always have a more rough and untamed appearance which adds to their loveliness. They all fill the settings and appear complete to the eye in shape and form.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. This chunky old mine cut diamond antique pair holds two bright and sparkly hand cut diamonds in very sturdy settings. While appearing uniform in size to the eye, one is cut a bit deeper / chunkier so they measure 2 carats for one, and 1.7 carat for the other. A combined 3.7 carats for the pair!

The settings allow the earrings to cover even more real estate below the ear with the addition of the large silver halo surrounding each bezel set stone.

These diamonds have an amazing Kozibe effect where the open culet reflects around the stone.

I purchased these in France and they have the French hallmarks for 18k gold and silver on the ear wires but I don't know that they were made there. We noticed this design a lot in Prague and Bavaria, the circular halo forms, and came to learn quickly that it was a popular design for the antique period as it really carried over between cities.

We also saw some with an additional circle above, which I was informed lead them to be referred to as "snowmen" : ). A design that continues to be popular and sought after there today as I was told that people would often come in to the shops there asking, "do you have any snowmen"?

This pair has only the one halo so I suppose it would be classified as a half snowman, or a snowman belly - tee hee. I guess I have snow on the brain as we have a blizzard coming: )

Comes as pictured in an antique box, one of my favorites from my own personal collection with the gorgeous blue silk, which is also collectible / valuable on its own with us antique jewelry enthusiasts.

Really beautiful and interesting settings with bright and sparkling diamonds. The halos are 12.5mm in diameter.

The old mine cuts are about 7.5mm in diameter each. There is some overlap of the bezel over the outside edge of the stone so this is an estimate as I don't remove stones from their settings for exact measuring. One is slightly deeper than the other measuring 2 carats while the other is about 1.7 carat. Total carat weight being around 3.7 carats all together.
This pair of earrings weighs 5.4 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Could not ask for better settings with strong and sturdy lever backs that spring closed and stay closed. The diamonds do not move in their bezels although under magnification I can see some spots where the girdle edge of the stone shows, so you'd want to keep an eye on this over time to ensure they remain well held in the bezel with wear.

The diamonds are bright, fiery and with wonderful sparkle. We love these chunky old cuts with the strong Kozibe effect. Though they are typical for the period, each with natural inclusions. Both have smatterings of tiny carbon specks. There is also some gray needle inclusions and some crystal speck inclusions that can catch the light. The inclusions are focused more around the outside edges of the stones, with the areas under the tables of the stones being cleaner. This helps because the busier reflections on the outlines of the stones help mask the natural variants to the stones. There are no large inky spots so while on the ear they honestly appear as great quality, but the inclusions can be eye visible if you are seeking them out.

Tight and springy hinges, better than many dormeuse that can be found. They snap closed and wear securely. There was a lot of stubborn tarnish on the silver halos that I was able to clear away with time. A few nicks and impressions can be seen on the halo and a bit of patina remains.

Their uniqueness and quirks are expected and part of their charm, but do read the detailed notes which provide more information than a letter grade. My items do very well without paperwork so there is no certification included for the diamonds since the scales don't apply very well to these one of a kind stones anyway.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. At first I thought it was as design on the star, and after studying it, was completely unfamiliar with the mark. But one of my sweet customers recently informed me that it is actually the uncommon Kite hallmark used only between 1868 and 1883 which helps us accurately date these Victorian earrings. Such a fun provenance! I love learning new things about the incredibly vast world of antique jewelry and I thank the kind customer for educating me!

These are the earwires that are not permanently connected, the drops added like pendants that can easily be removed and swapped out with other bases.

Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it is difficult to determine scale from pictures. It's just that the lever backs aren't super springy and super lock-y (sorry, I know that isn't a word - tee hee). But they do actually have a small click at closure when you get them hooked into the backs so they do close and stay closed. These are very popular,
Still beautiful and appropriate for gentle handling considering age and fabrication.

The diamond has a triangular flake of loss tucked up under one edge of the bezel that appears as a frosty unpolished spot, and a few other frosty inclusions around the outside edge with a nicer clarity in the middle. The joy of paste is you get the bright white sparkle without the price! I love how they are slightly wider than they are tall, and set east to west.

Ornate little crown prong setting with the smaller accent stone above. The fabrication is uncommon and fascinating. Usually we see foiled settings where a sheet of foil is behind the stone, followed by a domed gold setting. In this case, the foil is actually somehow applied to the bottom of the stone, like a metallic layer around the base, with the back side then colored gold. It's unbelievable how bright this leaves the foil side which adheres to the back of the stone, as there is no vacant space for water to cause rust or spotting. With the spready rose cuts catching the light like only they can. No real damage aside from some indented natural inclusions around the girdle of the stone, to one more than the other, where the decision was made by the cutter to polish around the natural variations of the stone. That same stone does have a carbon formation, more of a ink spill smattering than a large round inky spot, not super glaring but you should be able to pick it out in the 20x zoom photos which accent it much more than while wearing. The other stone has some crystal inclusions and some needles that can catch the light and reflect a bit of frost. I would say the pictures actually make them appear more overall frosty than they do under magnification where the inclusions are here and there and not all the way through if that makes sense. Having said that, they would likely be in the SI range with slightly eye visible inclusions becoming more eye visible if you are seeking them out or if the light and angle is just right.

A little wear to the prongs but these have the forked prongs where the metal holds above and below the girdle edge of the stone so they are definitely stable. The blue paste are 8mm in diameter, so appearing at about 2 carats each by millimeter at least.

The earrings measure about 15.6mm top to bottom. Some faint frosty speck inclusions typical but no dark carbon. One earring has two stones with an indented natural inclusion leaving an unpolished speck off the edge but none of this is eye visible. One earring has one worn back outside edge prong and the other has three stones with one outside edge prong worn back but none of the stones move. The lever backs are still springy so they are secure to wear.

One paste has a few small nicks, while the other shows more wear as seen in photos. Overall the sheen and polish and color are great, it's just that the one has a few more abrasions, a deeper scratch and one area on the outside at about 4 o'clock where it is scuffed leaving an area at the surface that is matte finish. This is only a small part of the stone and does not affect the table of the stone so again the center and stone overall has a nice polish and sheen and is not abraided overall with a matte finish, but the table facets have those nicks and there is another single nick on the table of that stone as well. I love these stones, they have a beautiful warmth in color, my favorite to find, having been cut during a period when the mines in use produced a generally warmer rough. The white gold settings serve as a bit of a contrast but the stones are interesting in that under magnification they appear almost champagne, in sun they light up with a more pale yellow hue and then in ambient light they face up whiter. Lovely sparkle and design. The center holds an old mine cut raised in prongs while the petals are each set with a rose cut diamond for additional sparkle.

Such lovely design elements. Crafted in 18k gold and topped in platinum. These are from the Victorian to Edwardian period. Lattice gallery underneath the face of the earrings and lovely lever backs that latch into place. A bit easier to insert and wear than the ones that have to be inserted from the back of the ear.

Found in France with their hallmarks for 18k gold, platinum and a goldsmith stamp.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

The clusters are 11mm in diameter. They are 16.5mm from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the cluster. The tiered cluster portions have a depth of 6.4mm (not including the hinged backs).

The center old mine cut iamonds are 3.6mm each. The outlining diamonds are about 1.8mm each give or take.

The pair weighs 3.3 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The diamonds have inclusions typical for antiques, one of the old mine cuts has some carbon, they both appear frosty. Natural inclusions and frosty edges and irregular cuts to the rose cuts as well. They tend to always look like this. They all fill the settings and appear complete to the eye in shape and form. Some warm to gray hues. They are not huge so it is not glaring while wearing but I always describe everything I see under magnification. They wear and latch securely but always recommend a gentle hand with these 125+ year old pieces but what a sweet design!

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition.
