ABOUT:

I just can't get enough of these chunky old mine cut navettes and this one is especially fun with a super chunky Peruzzi cut cropping out at center. Amazing texture and sparkle with the 37 diamonds totaling around 1.3 carats of glitter. And the old Peruzzi cut is deeper than it is in diameter so talk about chunky!

This one has a moody vibe as it is crafted in a gorgeous, rosy 18k gold but has some darker antique patina to the ring face which is topped in silver. This was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white precious metal.

Found in France, it is from the Victorian era. The knife edge shank leads to the beautifully flared shoulders popping up the ring face which appears like a platform of cobblestone texture. Sturdy bead prongs add to that texture and the cut down demi-collet setting around the outside edge contributes to the fabulous antique look.

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 7 1/2, a little over
Weight: 4.1g
Ring face measurement: 27x9.5mm
Height off the finger: 5.7mm

The center Peruzzi cut is 3.2mm square with a very chunky cut / high crown, it is deeper in cut than it is in diameter and measures about a quarter carat. For the 36 other diamonds, most are in the 1.7mm range give or take, with a few slightly larger at 2.1mm and a few smaller at 1.5mm. Exact depths vary and I would never remove them for exact measurements but estimates to around 1.3 carat total weight in diamonds.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Despite having so many stones, this one has a sturdy hand feel with the setting appearing in good order. Under magnification I can see a tiny nibble here or there but the stones and setting are in good condition. Typical antique diamonds with some faint natural inclusions, a few of the smaller ones appearing frosty under magnification but this is not really eye visible. What is eye visible are the varying warm hues to the stones which is also contributed to by patina to the silver of the ring face top. The majority of antique diamonds are warmer in color because most of the rough diamonds at that time came from mines that produced warmer-colored stones. Many collectors like myself seek out these chunky warm stones, so unique compared to the millions of carats of modern machine cut diamonds produced each year.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
