ABOUT:
Beautiful antique 18k gold ring with buttercup ring face holding a 4.7mm rose cut diamond. Elegant and sparkly. The thinly cut rose cut is spready and suspended up in the prongs with an open back to catch the light like a little disco ball.
The piece is crafted in 18k yellow gold with the ring face in white gold to set the diamond in a white metal and make it appear bigger.
Antique box not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Ring size 7 1/2, Ring face is 8mm north to south and it stands 5.7mm off the finger. It weighs 2.2 grams.
Diamond is about 4.7mm. Like most rose cuts they have a lower carat weight but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. This spready one has the appearance of a .4 carat modern stone by diameter, just for comparison's sake and to give you an idea of scale.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Thick frosted girdle all the way around the stone as expected for age to the hand cut stone. A few nibbles to the girdle that may have always been there. Slight warm and typical natural inclusions including a carbon spot and some icy and frosty specks. These can catch the light and are eye visible due to the way the stone was cut, like looking through clear glass. One broken tip and a worn prong but the stone is still secure, held on each side by the six others. Wonderful sparkle to this fun solitaire.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
