THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT ~

ABOUT:
Beautiful day to night earrings with simple ear wires leading to a ball rivet and a little bohemian garnet floral cluster.
The way the deep crimson red garnets glow and reflect light from within - they are like no other! This was a popular / world renowned method with these types of rose cut garnets in the closed back setting. This jewelry was very popular in the 1800s and remains highly collectible - and very beautiful still today!
The ear wires are later but were constructed to create this "Day to Night" or "Day and Night" pair, named so because you can remove the dangling garnet portion and wear just the gold ear wire and ball rivet tops alone. Then when evening comes, you can add the additional garnet cluster to make them more fancy for dinner or the ball.
No hallmarks remain. The ear wires are in 10k gold (tested) and the garnet clusters are set in solid silver with a rose gold backing.
Antique box, props, staircases, bannisters, mice ; ) etc. not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
22mm from top of earwire to bottom. The cluster settings are 11mm wide. The pair weighs 2.2g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Some nicks and abrasions under magnification but to the eye the stones are wonderful. As mentioned, it is a married set with the antique garnet clusters added to a later ear wire.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
