I peeled a squash the day I photographed them and the sap left a layer on my skin. Google it - it's a real thing that happens from handling the skin. Ah well, at least you know my listings are written by a real human who gardens. ; )  haha, but I digress...\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBeautiful and eye catching French antique dormeuse \/ sleeper dangle earrings in 18k gold totaling about 1.75 carat total weight in diamonds.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach earring holds a 5.9mm old mine cut diamond with an open back, and with an additional little rose cut at the top for added sparkle. Victorian era pair of earrings that I acquired in France. So eye catching and elegant in the lovely antique gold which has a warm and rosy hue.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese are the ones with the hooked ear wire that is inserted from the back of the ear towards the front and then latched into a catch just behind the little rose cut. Please note this fabrication, it's how they always are and they are quite popular but it takes some tactile strength and getting used to when it comes to latching them on the ear.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI love how the rose cuts are extra chunky and crop out of the pinched bezels at the top.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese French \"dormeuse\" earrings translate to \"sleepers\" - meant to be dainty enough and comfortable to sleep in to keep the ear holes open for earring wear during the Victorian period. Of course we don't recommend 24\/7 wear on these 125+ year old pieces now with their dainty and intricate gold hinges, I'd be hesitant to lie down on them even though the prongs are in good shape.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFound in Paris. These have the French hallmarks on the posts of each of them for 18k gold and the prongs are topped in platinum as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAntique Box Is Included! Comes as shown although I'm not sure if the box is original to the earrings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePlease note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSIZE \u0026amp; MEASUREMENTS:\u003cbr\u003eThe diamonds are each about 5.9mm cushion cuts measuring over .85 carat each with little rose cuts above totaling around 1.75 carats total for the pair. This is an estimate as I do not remove stones from their antique settings for exact weights.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThey measure about 13.5 mm top to bottom from the top of the ear wire to the base of the earring.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis pair of earrings weighs 3.2 grams combined.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe hinges remain tight and latch securely. Still - Gentle handling recommended to the 125+ year old hinges.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTypical antique diamonds both with natural inclusions slightly eye visible by GIA standards (estimated SI even though Four C's does not apply to antique diamonds). No really large inky spots but rather small smatterings that are not really seen without using magnification. They are wonderful antique diamonds in their all original settings with the slightest warmth but facing up whiter, (another antique diamond phenomenon that the Four C's can't account for). They don't read as warm or yellow when wearing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNo chips or damage of any kind. A worn prong here or there but the large diamonds are still well surrounded on all sides with no movement. These have all the attributes that make these antique originals always so popular.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePlease note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and \/ or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )\u003cbr\u003eBut - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition.
