ABOUT:
Antique Victorian watch chain that I got in France with foxtail link fabrication of alternating links - smooth and textured. Glowing warm, buttery and rich antique yellow gold with an extra large spring ring which are quite collectible in their own right.
This could be worn a a bracelet with the dog clip latched into the loop below the spring ring, and then the XL spring ring could be used to hold charms or amulets. It is a little over 8.5" stretched end to end but if you hook the dog clip to the spring ring and let the spring ring dangle it shortens to about 7 3/4" in length. These are also often connected to another chain or used as an extender in a neckmess.
Note the dog clip is not super springy / has little tension. I am including it anyway since it is original to the piece. When it is clipped to the spring ring it seems to clip securely and not open on itself, even as I am handling it and moving it around, it is staying clipped. However, you could remove it completely and attach the spring ring to a jump ring, or you could have it permanently closed (with glue or solder) to where you open the spring ring to connect it to the dog clip (it fits in the opening of the spring ring so having it permanently closed still makes it wearable as a chain.
French hallmark for 18k on the loop.

7 3/4 to 8 1/2 inches. Weight is 8.4g.

These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
