ABOUT:
Beautiful French antique 18k gold pendant or love medal with grapes, grape leaf, forget me not flowers and cattails. The trip colored gold is beautiful, contrasting green leaves and rose gold details against the yellow gold satin finish. The back is dated in French: "Louise, Palaiseau 19 SEPTbre 1914" - for 19th of September (Septembre in French), 1914. What a nice provenance! The front is open to have the piece engraved with initials or personalized.
This is an antique piece from the Belle Epoque period that I acquired in France. I love the ornate design and the contrasting colored gold.
It is hallmarked on the loop with the French hallmark for 18k gold. It is also hallmarked with the goldsmith stamp.
The gold has a beautiful satin finish, so it helps mask surface wear compared to a polished gold piece with a mirrored finish.
Any props are not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
24mm tall to the top of the loop (not including the jump ring) and 19mm wide. It somewhat thin with a dainty hand feel, it weighs a little over 1.7 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Some surface wear to the gold from wear over the years and patina from age. The piece is well over 100 years old but looks like it was hardly worn as the detail is still quite crisp. The gold multi coloring is wonderful and it wears beautifully.
But my disclaimer with all my estate pieces - due to age, please note this piece is not in mint condition.
