French Antique Art Deco Pendant on Chain .75 Carat Rose Cut Old European Cut DIAMONDS Blue Sapphire Halo 18k White Gold

ABOUT:

Timeless French antique Art Deco pendant on attached dainty chain in 18k white and yellow gold. The pendant is composed of multiple parts, set with 24 rose cut diamonds in milgrain settings. The oval drop part of the pendant has a larger prong set Old European Cut diamond raised above a halo of rhombus cut sapphires.

The piece has great movement and sparkle because the bottom most oval is independently connected by loop to a triangular portion, then a bezel set rose cut leading to two additional marquise shaped settings set with rose cuts. Since these are all independent pieces connected by loops, it allows the dangle portions to move and shift to catch the light and sparkle. Under magnification the pendant components have layers of yellow and white gold so the piece has a warm glow but overall appears white in color, a popular trend for the period and as was customs to set diamonds in a white metal.

The sapphires are small and uniform in color. I don't detect any inclusions so they may be synthetic as was a popular choice for the period so I am selling it as is with no claims otherwise.

French hallmarks on the loop and spring ring for 18k gold as well as two on the pendant portion indicating all components are 18k gold.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

The oval dangle is 16x11mm. The straight drop portion is 30mm leading to the two marquise panels that are 15mm in length each. Stretched end to end it measures almost but not quite 16.5 inches. The old European cut is about 3mm. The rose cuts are small, 1 to 1.5mm each with a few closer to 2mm. They are small but as there are several of them with the larger OEC, it is estimated around .75 carat total weight in diamonds.
The piece weighs 4.6 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Typical old rose cut diamonds with some inclusions, nicks, frosty and irregular edges, likely have always been that way as they were rough cut by hand. They are small so this is not really visible to the eye, they just add a nice little glint of sparkle. They typically always look this way. The old European cut is in great shape with just a few faint natural inclusions seen only under strong magnification although they have some wear to the prongs. We typically see this on pieces of this age but something to keep an eye on as time goes by. None of the stones move and the sapphires are in especially nice condition.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
