Can't seem to find enough of these and it's always a delight when the 125+ year old hinges are still springy, the pieces all still sturdy and ready to wear.

Comes as pictured in an antique box from my personal collection. It's a Victorian pin box, but beautiful color inside and the diamonds nest nicely there for display.

The diamonds total about 1.4 carat total weight, with bright and sparkly old mine cuts with chunky hand cut faceting. These leading up to the old mine cuts above for added sparkle. The settings have an ornate setting with little fleur de lis crown prongs in platinum as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal. The rest of the fabrication is in rich antique 18k gold with the French hallmarks to indicate all parts 18k gold with a goldsmith stamp.

There is a fixed gold bar that extends down from the smaller diamond to the base of the lever back, topped in platinum to disappear but mean to provide stability and keep the little dangles always facing up and out instead of gravity pulling the diamonds downward if that makes sense. Beautiful to wear.

The lever backs still have spring and there is a tiny catch to hold the hooked end. These aren't as finicky to wear as the ones that are inserted from the back of the ear. These are put in at the front and then the levers snap shut behind the ear. The hinges are firm, the prongs are in good shape, these are so lovely. Hard to believe they are over 125 years old with those intricate hinges and latches functioning so well. (We still always recommend a gentle hand and advise against 24/7 wear for pretty much all antiques).

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

The larger diamonds are each about 4.8mm, nice and chunky cuts, and a little over half a carat per stone. The smaller accent stones are about 3.4mm each. I would not remove them for exact measurements but about 1.4 carat total weight in diamonds for the pair as an estimate.

18.8mm top to bottom, the bottom stone settings are 7.8mm wide by 6mm deep not including the lever backs.
The pair weighs 4.2 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
In about as good of condition as I have been able to find. The hinged backs are super spring and snap closed. The hooked ends don't really click into the little catch so I wouldn't say they latch but there is so much tension on the levers that they'd not open on their own anyway (at least not with appropriate wear).

The old mine cuts are typical in that they have some natural inclusions. The smaller ones are eye clean. One larger one has a small smattering of pinpoint inclusions including a few of the tiniest carbon specks but these are not visible to my eyes. So small, they are only very slightly eye visible if at all. The other diamond has an indented natural inclusions on the underside off the open culet that can reflect a crystal line when looking through the stone. GIA defines this as a dent that occurs under the surface of a diamond as a result of the diamond cutter's decision not to polish it off, because doing so could end up harming the diamond so the cutters would work around it - this is not considered a defect or blemish but a natural characteristic of the stone. Again only slightly eye visible if you are seeking it out but seen mostly under magnification. You should be able to seek these things out in the 20x zoom of the already zoomed photos, which of course accentuates it much more than anything seen while wearing. So for antique stones cut in much more limited supply they are quite a good quality with a bright color and wonderful sparkle. (This is the part where I would tell you, as someone who looks at antique diamonds constantly, if the diamonds are a bit on the muted side, which due to their rarity still makes them special and we love them all, but in this case they are quite lively and beautiful to wear). : )

These are very popular, all original antiques - Still beautiful and ready for regular wear.
Thanks so much for looking at my items!

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

SOCIAL:
Please feel free watch @mouseshouseantiques on Instagram for inventory drops, sneak peaks and previews!
