French ANTIQUE Figural Lucky PIG 18k Gold Cabochon RUBY Eyes Pendant Charm Belle Epoque 3D Victorian
ABOUT:
Wonderful little antique figural French pendant or charm in 18k gold of a figural 3D piggy. He has tiny cabochon ruby eyes, lifelike texture with little ears, one perked and one down and even a little tail - just the cutest.
During the late 19th and early 20th centuries the pig was a popular lucky charm in France, as well as in England and Ireland, Germany and Austria.
Wonderful patina in buttery gold with rosy gold seen under magnification on the raised areas from organic wear - just what you want to see on French pieces of this age.
It would be interesting on a charm bracelet, or looks absolutely adorable and whimsical as a pendant.
Chain in photos is not included.
The piece measures 21mm wide nose to tail by 13mm tall to the top of the loop. It weighs 1.3 grams. He's a little guy so check the group photo for scale : )
MARKS:
Marked with the French hallmark for 18k gold on the loop although it is difficult to decipher from wear
.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are in estate condition. Some surface wear and scratching from use over the years. He's got a ding / impression on one side so I would wear him facing the left. And one pinhead hole near the loop, the loop looks like it was reinforced. Note the small loop, might need an added jump ring for chain.
But Please note that due to age this piece is not in mint condition.
I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
