HEAVY Antique 11.2g 22k GOLD Cats Eye CHRYSOBERYL Wide Band Gypsy Ring
HEAVY Antique 11.2g 22k GOLD Cats Eye CHRYSOBERYL Wide Band Gypsy Ring
ABOUT:
Fab-u-lous chunky gypsy ring crafted in heavy 22k carat glowing gold set with a glossy light reflecting cat's eye chrysoberyl. This sturdy piece weighs over 11 grams of beautifully detailed buttery gold. A rich antique patina to the gold surrounds the oval orb gemstone which has a warm hue with a wonderful blue flash at the cat's eye.
Everything about this piece is quality. Dating to the turn of the century / c1900, this unisex ring is in amazing, all original condition. It appears to have been hardly worn as there is no wear to the surface of the gemstone and there is no wear to the prongs. Very special. The stone is amazing to behold and the gold work is just delicious.
The beautifully stone almost reads like a moonstone, but I purchased this from a dealer friend with gemologist who identified it as the cat's eye chrysoberyl. It has a deep, clear and legible antique 22k stamp inside. Very rich patina with a buttery glow from the recesses and slight rosy warmth to the raised areas.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and the pictures can make it difficult to see scale. Antique box is not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 8, slightly snug but passes over 7 3/4. The chrysoberyl is about 9x7.5mm. The ring weighs a very sturdy 11.2 grams. The ring face is 14.3mm north south at the face and it stands 7mm off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Below is my disclaimer for my antique pieces, but honestly it hardly applies in this case. The condition is exceptional. Some faint surface wear to the gold, especially at the back of the shank where there are some scuffs and scratches that can catch the light but that is really it. The stone has not a single nick or scratch and a perfect sheen and polish. The prongs are original and excellent. I'm in love.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
