One of a Kind Antique LETTER M W Part Finding Initial for Pendant Charm Solid Silver Rose Gold Vermeil Victorian Monogram

I'm always on the hunt for good antique monogram or initial jewelry and this a fun piece / part / finding for conversion by your local jeweler into whatever desired - pendant, charm, etc. Originally a pair of earrings that had two different letters (A or E & M or W - the other letter is listed separately) - I am selling individually as a single "M" or "W".

Listing is for the one in the cover photo - I think these pieces were actually originally personalized buttons or perhaps large cuff links although they are quite large for the latter. Crafted in solid silver with ornate pierced engravings surrounding the letter, the large detailed area at the center is gold washed in rose gold vermeil. Really skilled hand engraving work - not easy to find such craftsmanship these days.

The Victorian era pieces were then later converted to a pair of earrings with 18k yellow gold ear wires attached, however on this piece, the earwire
broke free so it is just the button face being sold as is for conversion by the buyer. Sorrows sorrows, but we see this sometimes on antique pieces.

I do still have the ear wire that came with it so it is included - to work with your local jeweler to re-attach it to make an earring, or affix a new loop in any size, style or location as desired. I just found it a fun and versatile antique initial piece.

French hallmark for 18k gold on the ear wire which is detached, this piece was found in Paris.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers "draw out" an example to get an idea of scale in person.

Antique Boxes, props, chains, mice : ) not included. I just laid it over my staging chain to show examples of how it would look if a loop were added by your jeweler.

MEASUREMENTS:

The disk is 24mm. It weighs 5.5g, and 5.75 grams if you weigh the detached ear wire.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Note again that it is sold as is / currently not wearable with the ear wire detached so the piece currently has no loops or connectors. I don't scrap antique jewelry and it is beautifully done so I am hoping someone will enjoy the project of repurposing it to their specifications. The rose gold vermeil is soft and subtle.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
