Those little raindrops of sparkly goodness have such a special way of catching the light and twinkling. I am always looking for them and buy them whenever I can, which isn't often because they are hard to find. And this one is even more up my alley because the diamonds have varying champagne to light brown hues. It's so beautiful.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI got this one in Paris. The dealer salvaged the stones and had the necklace made so the 18k rose gold chain is new. The diamonds are at least vintage or older, salvaged and evidenced by the fact that they are freeform in sizes and shapes and not completely uniform.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe delicate chain holds the twelve briollette cut diamonds by little loops so they can swivel and catch the light and sparkle. They are about 3.5 to 4.5mm top to bottom, again all slightly varying in their chubbiness and length. But because they are 3D, they have a higher carat weight than a brilliant cut. Each stone is about .2 carat give or take for a total of 2.4 carats total on the necklace. This is a loose estimate because they don't follow normal formulas for calculating carat weight and I don't take pieces apart to weigh them as it would destroy it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSo minimalist and dainty worn alone but layers well with other pieces too, the way the briollette diamonds can roll around the decollette and sparkle from all sides. Their faceting is almost like a rose cut the way they dome out as 3D ovals and yet dangle as sweet little drops. Note in the pics when I lie it flat or handle it, sometimes the stones roll upwards but this is not the case while wearing. The minute you put it on a form or neck, they all drape down exactly perfectly and can swivel and twist to catch the light and twinkle.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt's beautiful to wear. The chain is stamped with the numerical hallmark used Europe for 18k gold (750).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePlease note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMEASUREMENTS:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eChain is 17 3\/4 inches in length.\u003cbr\u003e\nTwelve diamonds in varying shapes and forms, some chubbier, others more teardrop. Each about .2 carat give or take. Some example measurements for a few stones: 3.7x3.1x2.6mm, another 4.4x3.5x2.2mm and yet another 4.3x3x2.5mm. Despite their natural variances, they are well matching in hue and size to the eye. They do seem small and delicate to the eye but with the three dimensional faceting affecting the carat weight.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe entire piece weighs 3.2 grams.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAgain please note the measurements, it is a dainty necklace! The diamonds are drilled with tiny channels on the top end where the dainty loop connects each one to the chain. All stable and in good wearable condition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe stones have varying light brown to champagne hues. Most of them have inclusions, frosty spots and smatterings of carbon pinpoints but the hue helps mask and none are large inky spots that jump out to the eye. If you study the zoomed photos of already zoomed images you can see what I am referring to much more than would be noticeable while wearing.\u003cbr\u003e\nWe often see inclusions in diamonds with these hues as a result of how they are formed in nature. A significant portion of natural brown diamonds fall into the slightly lower clarity brackets on the standard grading scale but with a color masking effect where they are more forgiving visually. Researching diamonds which I do daily, one site described it as camouflage : ).\u003cbr\u003e\n\"In a clear, colorless diamond, a dark inclusion stands out like a spot on a clean window. In a champagne or light brown diamond, the warm, golden-brown body color naturally masks and blends in with internal imperfections.\"\u003cbr\u003e\nWhich I would say is true in this case as well.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePlease note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and \/ or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )\u003cbr\u003e\nBut - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition.
