ABOUT:

Wonderful Portuguese antique flower ring from the 1800s. Ornate open work setting with center oval old mine cut diamond surrounded by 18 rose cut diamonds. Such strikingly detailed design work to the ring face.

When I first saw it I immediately connected it to the other Portuguese antique flower rings I had seen. When my colleague in Europe told me that it tested at 800 gold with a spectrometer, I was even more convinced. 800 gold using the numerical system used in Europe is 19k gold, which is the standard in Portugal and seemingly always what these are fabricated in. No hallmarks remain.

Silver ring face holds the rose cut diamonds in open back collet settings. The center OMC its set in a bezel with the chiseled design around it. I've read these are getting harder and harder to find and this is a fine example with such clean detail.

Antique box not included.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Currently a size 6 1/2. The floral face is about 18mm by 15mm. Weight is 4 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Typical antique diamonds, the center old mine cut has warmth and some inclusions seen under magnification. Also typical old rose cut diamonds with some inclusions, nicks, frosty and irregular edges, likely have always been that way as they were rough cut by hand. They are small so this is not really visible to the eye, they just add a nice little glint of sparkle. Some wear from age to some of the collets and prongs. The center old mine cut is set a bit low in the bezel but none of the diamonds move. Wonderful antique patina which makes the ring face pop.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Thanks so much for looking at my items! I'd be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop.
