Antique Bezel Set Daisy CLUSTER Ring 1.2 CARAT Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Halo 14k Gold Stacker Victorian
Antique Bezel Set Daisy CLUSTER Ring 1.2 CARAT Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Halo 14k Gold Stacker Victorian
ABOUT:
I love daisy cluster rings so I carry as many of them as I can since they are on trend and always popular. Usually I find them prong set so this is a nice option in that all the stones are bezel set, making it lower profile and smooth across the top. So those chunky knit sweaters are safe with this old girl!
Beautiful milgrain details surround for an impactful sparkle on the finger. Totaling around 1.2 carats of old mine cut diamonds, the center stone is larger and raised slightly in the bezel, surrounded by a halo of smaller OMC's. We often see clusters with the stones more uniform in size, so this one is interesting with the large stone in the center.
Found in France, no hallmarks remain. Sold to me as 14k gold and tested to confirm so it likely originated elsewhere in Europe. It is topped in silver as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Currently measures a snug size 7. It weighs a 3.1 grams. Ring face is 12mm in diameter and 5mm tall off the finger.
The center diamond is about 4.2mm and about 0.3 carat alone.
The other eight diamonds in the halo are about 2.8mm give or take for a total carat weight of around 1.2 carats, I would not remove them for an exact measurement but these measurements of mine also aligned with what the dealer told me when I purchased them (although they estimated the center stone to be 0.4 carat.)
CONDITION NOTES:
Some patina to the silver tops. The stones are set in bead prongs with the demi-bezel around the outside edges. I noticed that the stones do move and teeter, partly due to how they are set but there is some wear to the setting as well. Expected for age and something to keep an eye on over time. One stone has damage, a small triangular notch in the girdle right by the prong. Only slightly eye visible and lightly a result of inclusions in that area as the stone is quite frosty over half with inclusions. The adjacent stone also has an even smaller notch to the girdle seen under magnification. The other stones, some are eye clean and a few have the occasional faint inclusion, nothing glaring and no dark carbon spots. The largest center stone is eye clean.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
