ABOUT:
Moody Georgian to Victorian era rose cut diamond daisy ring on a glowing, buttery 23k gold band. The diamonds are foil backed and set in silver with a lovely dark patina from age. Some are pear or triangular in shape and some of the diamonds have a beautiful yellow hue. With the closed backs they read warm to gray but not muddy or dingy. Faint remnants of an ancient engraving remain inside the shank, almost poesy ring in appearance, I wish I knew what secrets it could tell.
No hallmarks remain but sold to me from a reputable source in Europe and tested to confirm.
Typical old rose cut diamonds for the period with some inclusions, nicked edges, frosty and irregular spots and nibbles, many may have always been that way as they were rough cut by hand. This one needs gentler wear as some of the collets are wearing showing a tiny gap between the girdle edge of the diamonds. Also with the closed back you should avoid getting it wet.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 1/2. The largest center diamond is about 4.5mm. Depth and thereby carat weight is unknown.
The piece weighs 4.6 grams. It stands 6.7mm off the finger. Ring face is 12mm wide north to south.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
