ABOUT:
I love this one for its yellow center and mix of antique old cuts. This Victorian era diamond daisy cluster ring features eight stones in varying, all interesting and uniquely shaped / cut old cut diamonds.

The largest center stone is eye clean and a beautiful pale yellow in color, with a cut that bridges across the table cut to Peruzzi cut to old mine cut tendencies. A cushioned square in shape, it has only eight pavilion facets, four larger ones and then the four smaller giving it the X marks the spot characteristic when looking through the stone. Lofty crown, gorgeous color and clarity, unique cut and cushioned square shape makes the center stone, measuring around 3/4 carat alone a special one.

It is further surrounded by the halo of smaller diamonds that are a mix of hues from champagne to warm to white. And in various cuts - a rose cut, some elongated and cushion cut old mine cuts and another with the table cut to old mine tendencies to match the center stone. Just a super interesting piece.

Warm and yellow hues along with uniquely and chunkily cut diamonds are my favorite parts of antique diamond hunting and this is a sweet one the way it combines so many special ancient stones in one piece.

The diamonds seem to vary in hue based on the lighting. The center isn't a vibrant yellow but even as I look at it now in ambient light it is noticeable. And in direct sun it presents an especially delicious warm to yellow color. I showed it in comparison to other whiter diamond pieces to help you compare. Hopefully the photos in all lighting conditions give you an idea of how it wears.

Lovely rosy antique gold. Found in France with their hallmark for 18k gold.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from photos.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

A snug Size 6 1/2. The ring face is 13mm in diameter. It stands 7.5mm off the finger. It weighs 3.85 grams.

The center diamond is about 5.5mm and a very chunky cut measuring about .75 carat alone. The rest are 3 to 4mm each. Varying depths and irregular cuts make it difficult to estimate carat weight and I would not remove them for an exact weight but it's at least 1.75 carat appearing face up closer to 2 carats total if you were to estimate by millimeter .

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The center diamond is eye clean. The outlining stones... not so much (tee hee - : )
Four of them have carbon spots with three of those four being on the larger side to eye visible. Two of the other stones appear quite frosty overall. They look quite ancient with most all of the outlining stones showing signs of wear, frosty spots, unpolished areas or shallow flakes of loss, some rough or nibbled edges. Three have loss to a girdle edge making them out of round (or rectangular / elongated, etc) leaving a small gap between the edge of the stone and the bezel.

The piece has a very organic and free form feel because the stones all vary in cuts, with varying numbers of facets, different shapes and sizes making them reflect the light differently - which is actually quite wonderful. But yes, those outlining stones show their age. Also typical for antique stones are the varying hues, the center yellow, a few champagne, the others warm to warm white.

For the most part the ring appears complete with the stones filling the space in the halo but you can see the imperfections with the eye when you study it more closely. The center stone is spectacular. It teeters a bit because one corner prong is completely worn back, which we find quite regularly on pieces of this age in original condition. However there are six other prongs that overlap the girdle edge making it secure on all sides. She does need more gentle wear because of this. This is just something you'd want to keep an eye on over time, because with further wear to any of the prongs adjacent to the worn back one, the stone would no longer be secure on one side.

She's still wearable and reinforcement is always possible by your local jeweler. In this case, I would recommend asking them to reinforce just the one tip, and not venture into reinforcing all of them to make it "like new" which is not necessary or typically preferred by antique collectors.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
