ABOUT:
These stopped me in my tracks when I saw them due to the awesome architectural sort of design. Made in 14k gold and platinum, these Art Deco earrings look like they came straight off the Great Gatsby movie set. With beautiful and intricate milgrain filigree detail of feather like swoops in a rectangular lozenge shape with post backs. They wear like studs but are larger than most studs.
Each is set with 8 old cut diamonds, 15 of them are old mine cuts, one (the center diamond on one earring) is an 8 cut. Just such a unique and striking design. The left and right sides are beautifully engraved for added interest from the side.
Would be a beautiful something old for a bride.
These are European with a numerical hallmark of 585 on the posts indicating 14k gold and another symbol I do not recognize and the backs are stamped PLAT for platinum. I acquired them from a lovely shop in Upstate New York while away on a working / family weekend.
The dealer I purchased them from is a gemologist, they estimated 1/3 carat total weight / 0.33ctw. and rated the diamonds at VS in clarity and G-H in color, although these were made quite awhile before any modern grading systems were created and these older diamonds were cut by hand to enhance what each stone could best offer.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
The rectangle lozenge platforms each measure about 15x11mm. The diamonds are each about 1.2mm with the larger stones about 1.7mm each. They weigh a little over 3g combined.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
As with all my pieces this is in estate condition. The backs are nice and tight. One diamond is an 8 cut, the rest are all old mine cuts, the difference is not visible to the eye. The gold is beautiful and it is a very sweet pair. Some surface wear and scratches from wear over the years but still amazing pieces. But as with all my pre-owned pieces - Please note this is not a mint condition item.
