ABOUT:
Delicious patina and texture to this curb link chain which has textured / ribbed links and the most wonderful glow. It is small enough that you could hang a pendant from it but also large enough to be worn as a layering chain or alone. Please note the measurements as it is difficult to determine scale from photos.
Beautiful rich antique patina to the 18k gold rosy highlights, with French hallmarks on the loops of the clasp indicating all parts are solid 18k gold. Wonderful glow.
This piece is solid gold in that it is not gold plated or gold filled, but the links have a hollow area inside almost like pipes. We see many old chains fabricated in this method.
MEASUREMENTS:
The chain is just a bit over 16 inches in length. The piece weighs 4.4 grams. The links are 3.5mm wide and 1.7mm thick / deep.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
There is surface wear from 100 years to the ribbed design of the links leaving a beautiful rosy hue. There is one link that is crimped with the adjacent link having a small spot of weld that is a slightly different hue. This is evident at some angles. One other weld toward the back by the clasp where two links are joined, I'm not sure why, may have been done in the making? A few shallow ripples but nothing glaring and it sits nicely when worn.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
