ABOUT:

Can't seem to carry enough old cut gypsy rings.

This one features a nicely domed rose cut diamond, cropping out like a disco ball. It has a nice, chunky look to it. It is set in a 14k rosy gold setting with a closed back and backed with foil to catch the light from the back of the stone.

I got this on my recent inventory trip to England and my mom wore it everywhere we went.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

This would be a wonderful gift - right hand ring, statement piece, or stacker.

There are hallmarks on the back but I can't decipher them. Tests at 14k gold. It has a warm and rosy hue, it is Not like the vibrant pink rose gold of today.

Antique box not included.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is currently a size 8 1/4, a little over. The ring face 7.7mm north south with the shank remaining wide all the way around. It is 4.9mm tall off the finger with the high crown of the diamond. It weighs 5.7g.

I do not remove my stones from their antique settings for exact measurements and with the closed back, the depth of the stone is unknown. The exposed visible portion measures 4.4mm, (but widens out further in the collet set mount). It has a nice depth with the domed top. Like most rose cuts with a flat back they have a lower comparative carat weight than a modern diamond but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. A round modern brilliant diamond of this size measures 1/3 of a carat to give you an idea of scale.

CONDITION NOTES:

All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Typical for antique stones, the diamond some faint natural inclusions but nothing glaring to the eye. It does reflect warm to gray from the foil back and there is some spotting and cloudiness to the closed back setting. But the majority of the foil is still bright and reflective, it just reflects more gray but is not muddy or rusty. The stone is in great condition with no chips, just a nibble or nick under magnification. It just has that moodier antique sparkle as it was meant to be viewed by candlelight. There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it reflects its surroundings. Due to age - please note this is not a mint condition item. Shank edges are blunt from age and wear. With closed back settings we avoid getting them wet.
