ABOUT:
Unique use of gemstones in this gorgeous French antique cluster ring. A lighter marquise shaped ruby is at the center flanked by two slightly darker round rubies, and then on the left and right sides and at the shoulders we have 1 1/4 carats worth of old mine cuts for amazing sparkle. I think the rubies may be synthetic, as it was a popular choice for the period so I am selling it as such. Really beautiful coloring, a deep berry red color and such amazing sparkle.
French hallmarks for 18k.
Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6. Ring face is 17x13mm. It stands 5mm off the finger. It weighs a sturdy 5.3 grams.
Sold to me from a reputable source as 1.25 Ctw. in diamonds. I did some measurements as well and my estimates seem to align with that.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. the rubies are in great shape with a lovely color, sheen and polish with just a few tiny nibbles. To the diamonds, a nick or two, that look like inclusions that carried up to the surface and were polished. Just looking at the way they are shaped, they do not look like abrasions since they are more like a crease shape. A few worn prongs especially to one of the end rubies but none of the stone move. Typical antique diamonds with some faint inclusions only under magnification and no dark carbon spots. Also typical, two of the diamonds seem to read a slightly warmer hue to the eye in just some lighting conditions.
