ANTIQUE Victorian Etruscan Revival GARNET Carbuncle Ring Engraved Halo 14k Gold Domed Purple Red Glow

ABOUT:

This one looks like something you'd see a royal wear on a period piece movie. Substantial Etruscan revival Victorian era ring with rich antique gold work holding a glowing purplish red, glossy garnet. It is surrounded by engraved designs and ball rivet details to the halo. I wondered if this was a pin conversion but the dealer I purchased it from thought it was always a ring.

The garnet has a beautiful color, a deep red that has a juicy purple glow and in some light even a flash of the lighter color from within.

Found in England, no hallmarks remain but it tests at 14k gold on both the shank and ring face.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 7 1/2
Ring face: 17mm north south and 7.5mm tall off the finger.
Weight: 4.9g.
The garnet measures 10mm diameter with a tall domed top.

CONDITION NOTES:

The piece rattles when you shake it, I wonder if it has some secret inside the closed back setting? The stone does not move so it is secure and not the stone making the noise, but something between the stone and the flat gold back. I always wish I knew all the secrets my antique pieces could tell. Some nicks and scratches the garnet but overall a nice sheen and polish and beautiful color. A bit of cloudiness to the closed back setting when looking through the stone under lit magnification. Sturdy and beautiful piece.

Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
