BOW Rose Cut DIAMOND Victorian Pin PENDANT 18k Gold Safety Pin Pocket Watch Charm Holder Hook Figural
BOW Rose Cut DIAMOND Victorian Pin PENDANT 18k Gold Safety Pin Pocket Watch Charm Holder Hook Figural
ABOUT:
A gorgeous rose cut diamond encrusted figural bow safety pin. The bottom ribbon curls back to provide a hook in the back to hang things from it, it originally would have held a woman's pocket watch worn on a lapel. Beautiful movement to the piece. Diamond pocket watch as shown in photos as an example is currently available and listed separately.
Besides pins, I’ve also seen these incorporated into neck stacks as extenders and charm holders as seen in photos where I used one of my chains with dog clips to hook to each end. It makes for an awesome amulet to add other meaningful charms. (Chain and other items are not included, listing is for pin alone). the pin posts could also be removed to turn it into a pendant that would have the ability to hold an additional pendant from the hook.
No hallmarks, but sold to me as 18k and silver and tested to confirm. The pin back has a rosy gold hue with the bow topped in silver as was customary to set diamonds in a white metal.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers "draw out" an example to get an idea of scale in person.
Antique Boxes, props, chains, mice : ) not included. I provide other items in the photos to show examples of how to wear.
MEASUREMENTS:
30mm x 16mm x 9.5mm deep where the hook bows out including the pin back. It weighs a sturdy 6g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Still perfectly wearable. The pin back has tension in its spring. I was able to get it to sit nice on a chain but when wearing as a pendant, but it can tend to tip down because of the pin back. However, by adding charms or a pocket watch, or something larger from the hooked back, it adds weight to help hold it upright. Typical antique rose cuts in closed back settings that have warmed from age, with some of the stones displaying a natural warmth from nature. The diamonds are also typical in that they have some frosty spots and faint natural inclusions. They tend to always look this way on pieces of this age.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Striking to wear with the figural shape.
