ABOUT:
Fun geometric French antique stacker ring in 18k gold. A figural buckle is applied at the ring face and set with rubies. Comfort fit band, the buckle while also an antique component may have been added later? Engraved patterns at each shoulder. Great in a ring stack for a nice pop of color and interesting history.
The buckle was a frequently used motif in Victorian times. When used in mourning jewelry, it represented a memory and strength to hold the family together. In a more romantic application, the buckle represented eternal love, loyalty, protection, and an unbreakable bond.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
French hallmark for 18k gold.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5, slightly over. The buckle is m7.6m north south and the shank is 2.8mm. It weighs 1.6 gram.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Two of the rubies are faceted while the rest are glossy cabochons so I assume those are replacements but the stones are small so it is not glaring. Some nicks and scuffs to the small stones and wear to the patterns engraved into the shoulders.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
