ABOUT:

A gorgeous diamond pendant with a great antique look. This buttercup setting is set with a triangular rose cut diamond measuring about 6.5mm.

The scalloped outline leads up to the prongs which hold the diamond that is set in a cupped, closed back setting with foil to reflect the light and add sparkle. Customary fabrication for the Georgian and early Victorian pieces.

Found in France, no hallmarks remain but their standard is 18k, it is solid gold, sold to me as 18k and tested. The loops were added later as it may have been an earring component?

Antique box and additional slides, pendants, chains, etc. not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos where I am required to show zoomed in photos for detail. That is one reason I include a group shot to hopefully help show scale : ).

MEASUREMENTS:
Diamond is 6.5mm - carat weight is unknown as the depth is unknown in the closed setting. Like most rose cuts they have a lower comparative carat weight than a modern diamond but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. A round modern brilliant diamond with 1 carat total weight has a diameter of around 6.5mm for comparison's sake and to give you an idea of scale.
Pendant is 7.7mm deep and 14mm to the top of the attached loop.
Weight 1.6g

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The diamond is nibbled with a bit of loss on the upper left corner. This is seen more in the zoomed photos than it is while wearing, however it is eye visible if you are studying the piece as you can see the darkness of the little gap between the edge of the stone and the cupped collet. Eye visible natural inclusions typical for antique stones. Most appear as frosty but there are a few carbon specks that are smaller and less eye visible.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
