ABOUT:
This would be high on my keep list for personal collection if I was buying for myself - I love old cut diamonds with warm hues and I love geometry in my jewelry so this is a great one.
This square antique stacker ring holds 16 diamonds in a lozenge or panel for a great geometry and wonderful antique sparkle. The diamonds are old single cut diamonds. They have slightly varying hues of champagne to gray which makes it such an interesting piece. Diamonds with hues like these were often chosen intentionally by diamond cutters of the time and are often sought after by collectors. As these were hand cut long before the four c's of grading modern machine cut diamonds ever existed.
The reputable source in England that I purchased it from estimated it at .8 carat total weight in diamonds and that it tests at 14k gold, it is unmarked as we often see on pieces of this age.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 4 3/4, the ring face is 10.3mm square. The piece weighs 2.45 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Varying beautiful hues to the antique stones. Typical for antique diamonds, there are some small frosty inclusions, with the warmth they are not eye visible to me. Under magnification there is one warmer silk inclusions. One stone has a nick, again not eye visible. One of the center stones has some shallow flakes of loss leaving a frosty top edge. It appears slightly out of round and you can see the interruption to the surface when you study the top edges of the diamond from the side.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
There are no dark spots to the gold, it just reflects its surroundings in the photographs at times.
