ABOUT:

Sleek and glowing, rosy 18k gold setting props up a chunky old mine cut diamond. I love how it is suspended in prongs to be viewed from all sides. This chunky stone measures around .6 carat with a wonderful fire and clarity for an antique stone.

The domed gold work is somehow both rosy and buttery from the wonderful antique patina, nothing like the vibrant yellow and rose gold of today.
The gypsy ring was incredibly popular during the Victorian era into the early 1900s and its timeless design remains an ever favored and wearable choice for today. This ring is substantial enough to wear alone but also layers well with other pieces. Rings such as this were also a popular choice for men to wear during this period as well so it is a true unisex ring.

Found in France, it does have a hallmark on the outside of the shank but I can't decipher it. Sold to me as 18k and tested to confirm.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 8
Diamond: The old mine cut is about 5.1 by 4.7, measuring around 0.6 carat.
Ring face: 9.7mm north south
Height off finger: 5.4mm tall.
Weight: 6.1g.

CONDITION NOTES:

The diamond is in great condition with no nicks or nibbles. Some tiny speck natural inclusions seen only under strong magnification - very slightly eye visible and eye clean to my eyes which are in their forties : ). Nice white color with excellent fire for an antique stone. It does have some wear to the prongs as expected for antique pieces in original condition, but there are enough remaining on all sides to hold the stone very securely and it takes years and years for the gold to wear, so this is just something to keep an eye on over time. This could always be re-fortified by your local jeweler for 24/7 wear (you'd want to find someone with a laser welder and ask them to do the minimum necessary vs. making it "like new") but most of my buyers prefer original condition. There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it reflects its surroundings.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
