Chunky Antique .75 Carat CHAMPAGNE & YELLOW Old Mine Cut DIAMOND 14k Gold Daisy Cluster Ring Victorian Rivet Halo
I was blessed to take some inventory trips to Europe these past months and have come back with many "new" antique pieces in all price points. I will be listing new items each week for the foreseeable future so please feel free to follow. These items have been hand picked, one treasure at a time from all around Europe as I try to curate a collection of unique, one-of-a-kind pieces.
ABOUT:
I personally love finding old mine cut diamonds with hues like this, it just gives the already antique look of the piece an even more interesting historic vibe. This Victorian beauty holds seven chunky old mine cut diamonds in a floral shaped cluster with open backs. The diamonds have wonderfully high crowns that crop up out of the ring face with the largest center diamond slightly raised. The majority of the stones are a gorgeous light brown to dark champagne color with one of the old cuts being a more greenish yellow. When wearing in ambient light, they match eachother well, but the yellow one is more noticeably in direct sunlight and lit magnification.
Found in the UK, it has no remaining hallmarks. It tests at 14k gold. Lovely yellow gold, glowing patina. Wide hand engraved shoulders add an elegant antique detail. As a further accent, the surround of the scalloped ring face has ball rivet / bead detail.
These pieces are scarce and sought after for a few reasons - the first is that all antique hand cut diamonds of course have a more limited supply since they are no longer made in this way. There are only so many in existence compared to the millions of carats of modern, machine cut diamonds made every year. These have withstood the test of time.
The second is the color - it is believed that only 1 carat in every 10,000 carats mined are hued diamonds. So putting the old hand cut together with the color makes a grouping of champagne / light brown and yellow OMCs even more scarce. So many collectors, myself included, seek out this warmth in diamonds as opposed to the more common white ones.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 5 1/2
Ring face measurement: 12mm north south by 11mm.
Diamonds: Center is the largest at 3.3, the others are around 2.8mm give or take. Extra high crowns, nice chunky cuts. Exact depths of each stone are unknown as I would not remove them but estimated around 3/4 carat.
Weight: 2.9
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Typical antique diamonds with some faint natural inclusions, the center stone has slightly visible silk inclusions, the other stones' inclusions are smaller / fainter and very slightly visible. The yellow diamond has an indented natural inclusion carrying up to the surface, it appears as a polished crease. the prongs are quite good with just a few worn but plenty claw shaped prongs remaining holding all the stones very securely, nothing is moving at all.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Thanks so much for looking at my items!
