CRUCIFORM Victorian ANTIQUE Pink Ruby Ring Rose Cut Diamond 14k Gold Medieval Geometric

This one also looks like something you'd see a royal wear on a period piece movie but is almost medieval in design. Cruciform shape the way the vibrant pink synthetic rubies are arranged in front of a glowing hammered gold platform. At each shoulder are set rose cut diamonds for a glint of sparkle. There is one replacement marcasite, chosen I assume to match the hues of the old cut diamonds as replacing it with a modern stone would stand out quite brightly. The side stones are very small and just add a glint of sparkle.

The shank is also interesting, it looks like the diamond accents and band were applied over top the original ruby ring. Perhaps some sort of interesting engagement / wedding set? I always wish I knew all the secrets my antique pieces could tell.

Found in England, no hallmarks remain but it tests at 14k gold on both shanks and the ring face.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

Size: 6 3/4
Ring face: 12.4mm north south
Weight: 3.8g.
The center ruby is about 4mm.

CONDITION NOTES:

See notes above about marcasite and double shank. Ring face is somewhat flat on the finger. Unique piece to wear and stack and quite sturdy. Some nicks to the smaller side rubies. One is round and appears to be a replacement since the others are rectangular but it matches well in color.

The diamonds read warm to gray from the closed back setting. Some solder inside the shoulders where the two shanks were connected, not visible while wearing.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
