French antique wide band ring in sturdy 18k gold. The cigar band is engraved / dated inside "6 Juin (June), 1901" and has the antique French hallmark used in the 1800s to turn off the century for 18k gold. A raised fleur de lis design is angled across the face. Note the small size. Lovely glowing buttery patina with rosy highlights.

The "Fleur de Lis (or Lys)" translates to: "Flower of the Lily". It is considered to symbolize purity and chastity in a Christian perspective, and to symbolize the holy Trinity with its three petals. It has been used in the French monarchy since the 12th century and was even present on the banner of Joan of Arc. It still remains prominent around the country of France today, in emblems, stained glass windows, flags and textile (and jewelry : ) designs.

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

Size 4 on my mandrel but with the wide band it fits more snugly than that. Band is 6.7mm. It weighs 1.8 grams.

Uniform surface wear from age and some small nicks that can catch the light due to the mirrored finish, but a nice legible design. A seam from a sizing that is visible on the inside, it is smoothed over nicely on the outside but has differing patina in that area.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )

Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.

But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
