DATED c1900 Chunky .9 Carat Old Mine Cut Diamond Buttercup Gypsy Band Glowing 22k Gold Platinum Ring Unisex
ABOUT:
We love to find engraved / personalized antique rings with the built in provenance. This one is personalized: Emilie a Joseph 9 Octobre 1900 (Emily to Joseph, October 9, 1900).
The setting is a swirled gadroon pattern in 22k gold with a platinum bezel holding the chunky eye clean old mine cut diamond which measures almost a carat, around 0.9 carat to be more precise. The patina to the gold is interesting, a softer, pale yellow hue compared to the richer and warmer yellow gold we typically see. This must just be a result of the alloys used in the making of it.
Found in Belgium, no hallmarks remain. It tests at 22k both with a Kee tester and acid test.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 6 1/4
Diamond: The old mine cut is about 6.1mm and a Chunky cut, measuring around 0.9 carat. This is an estimate as I do not remove stones from their antique settings.
Ring face: 7mm north south
Height off finger: 5.5mm tall.
Weight: 6.4g.
CONDITION NOTES:
The diamond is in great condition with no nicks or nibbles. It is eye clean with no dark or glaring carbon spots. The pattern to the gold shows some wear and tapers slightly towards the back but remains sturdy.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )
