DOG Hexagon FLORAL Barrel Clasp Pendant French Antique VICTORIAN Regional Necklace Pendant Holder 18k Gold Solid Chain
ABOUT:
Awesome French antique 18k solid gold necklace with a barrel clasp decorated with a dog (for fidelity and faithfulness,) and flowers Intricate enamel details with colors of navy, light blue, black, white, green and orange. Makes an excellent chain, pendant or locket holder for your neckmess or neckstack. But it also wears beautifully alone with the clasp to the front as a pendant, hanging to the side or towards the back. It has a wonderful shimmer, shine and a rich buttery antique patina that just glows.
Nice length and drapes beautifully. This is an antique piece that I acquired in France from the 1800s early Victorian era. These pieces are becoming more and more scarce, as these folk traditional pieces fell out of use in the early 1900s.
French hallmarks for 18k on the loop of both sides of the clasp. Antique boxes / items in displays in photos are not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 3.15g. It is about 18 inches in length stretched end to end. The little barrel clasp pendant is about 25mm from attached loop to loop. Daintiest little chain with 1.1mm gauge, it's lovely.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are in estate condition. Some loss to the enamel making some flowers a little harder to make out. (I've heard of people using a tiny sharpie pen or enamel paint to fill in the low relief area to darken the image - this is less intense and less risk for damage than an enamel repair.) The dogs are complete with enamel and legible. Other than the enamel loss the piece is in otherwise great condition with no solders or repairs. The clasp functions well and is sturdy and secure. Uniform surface wear from age but fantastic to wear. Scarce and interesting piece in solid gold. I have one and wear it layered with other pieces pretty much every time I go out.
My disclaimer with all my antique pieces - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition.
I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
