THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT ~

ABOUT:
This one stopped me in my tracks with its unique shape and imposing footprint on the finger - it measures 1.1 inch north south but still has such an ornate and delicate appearance. The ring face and shoulders are completely encrusted in rose cut diamonds. And at each end north and south are a cluster of three old mine cuts - like little clovers on each edge. The piece holds 36 diamonds for a total weight of at least a carat, so it is quite impactful in the sparkle department.
This Paris find is in 18k gold, hallmarked. It is also engraved inside each shoulder with serial numbers - 100 and 799.
The sparkle is just delicious in a glowing buttery yellow gold and large figural face. It's wonderful.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 3/4. The ring face is 28mm north south. It weighs a sturdy 5.5 grams.
Each of the three old mine cuts is about 2.5mm give or take. the peice is further encrusted with 30 rose cut diamonds measuring 1mm to 2mm. Exact measurements of each diamond are not known in the setting but as there are so many of them it is at least 1 carat total weight in diamonds.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The sapphire has nicks and scratches to the table, I count about six using magnification. They are not all eye visible but some can catch the light. The old mine cuts are wonderful with no damage or inclusions even under magnification. Their bezels are in good shape. Typical antique rose cuts with some inclusions, nicks, frosty spots and irregular cuts / edges, likely have always been that way as they were rough cut by hand. They are small so this is not really visible to the eye, they just add a nice little glint of sparkle and are meant to have that more untamed rough cut look. Antique rings with so many small stones in original condition always need care and keeping an eye on the prongs but the shape and drama of the piece suits it for more special occasion wear anyway.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
