ABOUT:

This is a personal collection release from Paris with a great story and provenance. This antique 5.8g 18k gold medal / pendant was originally given as a keepsake or memento from renowned Fashion House Maison Paquin on Rue de la Paix, which home to the best Haute Couture fashion designers during La Belle Epoque.

It was given to Victorine Leclerc in 1915 - after she had worked for many years at the Paquin fashion house.

The front reads "Souvenir de Mme (Madame) Paquin 1915" with raised floral lily details and the back is engraved with the recipient's name "Melle (Mademoiselle) V. Leclerc."

Madame Jeanne Paquin was a dressmaker, designer and creator, described by the New York Times in 1913 as "the most commercial artist alive." The Queens of Spain, Belgium, and Portugal were all customers of Paquin.

Victorine Leclerc was the daughter of Pierre Leclerc, concierge of the Comédie Française for 43 years until 1921. She was the goddaughter of Alexandre Dumas Fils.

Beautiful quality, it would make a great gift for a fashion enthusiast, or for anyone who is interested in antique pieces with known stories.

French hallmarks for 18k gold and goldsmith stamp on the loop. It has a lovely satin finish with contrasting high shine in the raised and engraved areas.

Antique box not included.

Surface wear notable mostly to the back from rubbing against a surface.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Measuring 28mm from top of the bale to bottom and 18mm wide. It weighs a sturdy 5.8g.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it reflects its surroundings.

I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )

Thanks so much for looking at my items!
