ABOUT:

Several personal collection releases in today's stock drop and this is another special one in my humble opinion.

Rare and collectible figural flaming heart / witch's heart ring from the Georgian period set with rose cut diamonds in 18k gold. This is a Paris find, originally given during the Georgian era as a love token or betrothal ring. These figural heart rings are highly sought after, I love how this one has the curved bottom of the witch's heart in addition to the flames at the top. Openwork filigree underside with riveted and flared ring shoulders. I love figural antique pieces.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 9, The ring face is 18mm 11mm east to west. The piece Weighs 3.4g. The 10 rose cuts measure 4.2mm at the largest and 2mm at the smallest, with the majority measuring 3-3.5mm.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

One bezel was fortified, at about 1 o'clock on the ring face you can see the added gold and and slightly different patina but the old rose cut looks original / antique. I think one shoulder may have been reinforced and there are rub marks to the north edge of the filigree underneath the flame.
Typical antique rose cuts, with frosty edges, shallow flakes of loss, irregular facets, some natural inclusions, plenty of nicks and rough edges. They read warm to gray from age to the foil back and are most likely thinly sliced but have a nice surface area to cast a great moody sparkle. When it comes to these old rough cuts, some of the aforementioned may have always been that way since they were hand cut so long ago. The ring is beautiful but these age related irregularities are typical for rose cuts from this period. The diamonds look very old indeed. Gentle wear should be considered as we try to avoid getting these closed back pieces wet.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
