ABOUT:

Current favs in the earring department and these are a two for one! Fleur de Lis dormeuse tops and disco ball faceted sphere dangles really bring the party!

These earrings are called "Day to Night" or "Day and Night" because you can remove the dangling ball portion and wear just the gold dormeuse tops which are dainty little figural fleur de lis. : ). Then when evening comes, you can add the additional disco ball spheres to make them more fancy for dinner or the ball.

This gives an additional added versatility in that you could wear the dormeuse parts in the ear, and hang one of the sphere parts on a chain as a matching necklace or charm if desired. They are quite clever with the pendant parts held to the earring from the hinge so that when the earrings are opened, the dangling parts don't fall off. To remove them you have to manually slide them up and hold them near the top of the earring, and then open the hinge to slide them off.

These are from the Georgian era. The hooked ends of the earwire latch into a little circular opening / catch atop the back of the fleur de lis. The latches function like a dream. Snap satisfyingly but without being too difficult to open and close.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

Antique hallmarks on the back "10C" for 10k Gold. Tested to confirm. The tops appear to be solid gold while the spheres appear to be gold cased, where they were fabricated by wrapping a sheet of gold around a sphere. They have plenty of dark patina to the gold from age, but I mention this because under magnification I can see some verdigris and areas of wear to the gold casing of the disco balls where it looks like there is an underlying metal. This does not occur on the fleur de lis portions although I do believe they are original to eachother. Just differing fabrication methods likely to create the faceted sphere fronts of the disco balls which have a smooth back.

MEASUREMENTS:
26mm from top of earwire to bottom when both parts are assembled. The disco balls are 8mm wide. The fleur de lis are 8x7mm. Weight 1.5 grams so dainty hand feel as they are hollow inside.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

See above.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Thanks so much for looking at my items!
