ABOUT:
Awesome French antique Savoyard creole hoop earrings with scalloped shape. These antique earrings are antique but they still have such a timeless and relevant design. I love them. The little scalloped areas catch the light for a lovely shimmer. The applied floral details are accented in tricolor gold. And the faceted ball detail is what set them apart as Savoyard creoles, each serves as the catch for the ear wire which has a hooked end. Please note the exact measurements which are specified below as many people seem to expect the hoops to be larger.
Beautiful rich antique patina like only French 18k and their special alloys used at the time (no one knows the recipe as it wasn't an exact formula across the board) which gives them a coloring like no other. The back sides of the scalloped portion are ornately engraved for interest at all angles.
These earrings are from the Victorian era and fall into the category of French regional jewelry (a huge passion of mine). Regional, or folk jewelry, is defined by a particular style confined to a particular region.
French hallmark for 18k gold with goldsmith stamp.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
They measure about 24mm top to bottom from the ear wire to the bottom by about 21mm. Weight is 3.6 grams combined.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
As with all my pieces this is in estate condition. Some surface wear, a tiny ripple here or there but I don't really see damage and the catches function well. Nice patina and wonderful coloring. But as with all my pre-owned pieces - Please note this is not a mint condition item.
