THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT ~

ABOUT:
Another fav from my inventory trip - these floral and leaf dangle earrings. Sparkling foil backed rose cut diamonds set in 18k gold topped in silver, the customary fabrication for the time. The dangles are original antique but they have been added to 18k gold screw back clip on mounts. They screw on quite tightly to be secured on the ear, but it would also be very easy to have your local jeweler swap out the screw backs for simple gold ear wires or studs for example, as there is a loop at the top of each dangle. In fact, if you have a pair of simple gold ball studs, these could be worn like night and day earrings, where you wear the gold ball studs alone, and have the option of adding the dangles to the post before inserting into the ear.
Otherwise they are of course wearable and sturdy as is with the screw backs.
The backs of the earrings are more rosy gold than the later screw backs which are more buttery. The Georgian parts are unmarked but sold to me from a reputable source as 18k and silver, and the screw backs are stamped for 18k.
Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
28mm top to bottom. 14mm wide. The largest center diamonds are a nice size at about 4-5mm (this is the visible portion as they widen out further in the silver collets an unknown amount). The pair weighs 5 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. A few nicks and some rough or frosty edges to the very old rose cuts. No cracks or glaring chips, they look how Georgian rose cuts always tend to look. Some of the frostiness may have always been there, but some of the nicks possibly from age. Completely functional. Some warm to gray hues from age and patina to the foil backing but they have that wonderful antique sparkle. A very nice color and patina to the gold and silver.
But of course Due to age, please note this is not a mint condition item.
