French ANTIQUE 1 Carat 19 Rose Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Pave Cluster Ring 18k Gold
French ANTIQUE 1 Carat 19 Rose Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Pave Cluster Ring 18k Gold
ABOUT:
This one has a nice texture with the mix of rose and old mine cut diamonds encrusting the ring face. It is a soft navette form, reading almost oval with just a slight point to the north and south ends. I love its moody appearance with the patina to the ring face mixed with the bright white to warm to gray mix of old cuts.
I got this one in Paris. Beautiful alone and fun to layer. Faint partial French hallmark for 18k gold remains. The shank some lovely rosy hues.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
A snug Size 6 1/2, the ring face is 18mm north to south by 8mm and 4.8mm tall of the finger. It weighs 3.5 grams.
The largest center diamond is 3.2mm. The other diamonds are 2 to 2.7mm each, many with high chunky crowns and just a few slightly under that range. I would not remove them for exact measurements but estimated around 1 carat total weight in diamonds.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The stones reflect a mix of bright white to warm to gray in a lot of lighting conditions. Super sparkly and amazing texture but just doesn't read bright white as a whole, in part because of how the stones were cut with the high crowns, deep pavilions and large culets - they just reflect the light differently than modern machine cut stones. But some of it is warmth to the stones themselves - which I and many other collectors love to see. It has a great antique look.
Typical antique diamonds with some natural inclusions, some quite frosty but they are relatively small as individuals, clustered together for impactful sparkle. A nick here or there under strong magnification and some of them may have always been cut that way but again nothing glaringly eye visible. None of the stones move but there are several worn prongs, especially around the outside edge so I would recommend gentler wear and always do for pieces with a lot of stones in original antique condition. The outside prongs are in gold which is where we see most of the wear. The inside prongs are done with solder or patina'd silver as there is a darker hue in the recesses between the stones which may have been done as a reinforcement at some point in its long life. Sold as is, I would have priced it higher if it was ready for daily wear.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Thanks so much for looking at my items!
