ABOUT:
Current earring fav! Beautiful antique old mine cut diamond studs totaling around 1 carat in diamonds with nice, bright, clear old mine cuts in ornate crown like prongs with an additional little old mine cut on top for added sparkle. In rich, rosy antique 18k gold with the prongs in platinum as was customary for the time to set diamonds in a white metal. These may have been converted to earrings from something else as I can see the weld between the post and the earring under magnification, but the patinas match perfectly. The push backs appear later as they are a more vibrant yellow gold, this is not seen when wearing.
I love antique diamonds, even those with inclusions or hues typical for the time, because some of those were still among the best available in the market during that period, and were expertly cut by hand to enhance their best characteristics. So I don’t often like to compare antique stones against modern grading standards - BUT these diamond, for old stones have a particularly lovely clarity and condition. They wear beautifully.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
The diamonds are about 4.7x4.5mm give or take each. Chunkier cuts. The smaller ones are about 2.5mm. Exact measurements unknown as I would never remove them but using calculators and estimates by mm, I am getting 1 full carat total combined (about half carat each). The settings are 11x8mm and stand 7.5mm off the ear with the long ornate prongs. Combined weight is 3.9grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
As with all my pieces this pair is in estate condition. As mentioned, very nice clarity for antique diamonds. I don't see any nibbles, chips, nicks, cracks. Prongs are in good shape. The gold is beautiful and it is a very sweet and uncommon pair. Weld visible when you study the back of the posts. The push backs are later replacements and a different patina but they do not budge when pushed in. These things are not seen while wearing. Some surface wear and patina but that's about it. But as with all my pre-owned pieces - Please note this is not a mint condition item.
