ABOUT:

Beautifully sparkling early 1900s French antique sapphire ring surrounded by a halo of twelve old mine cut diamonds. I had a dealer friend in Paris once tell me that these are among the most popular ring styles in France where they prefer the more subtle sapphire color over more vibrant gemstones like rubies and emeralds or large diamonds. I have found in my years of selling that they are very popular here as well! It has an awesome deep blue natural sapphire around 3 carats in size with wonderful sparkle to the old cut diamonds. Total diamond weight is around 1.2 carat estimated. Crafted in 18k white gold, the ring face is topped in platinum.

Linear silk / needle inclusions to the sapphire which can catch the light and reflect out almost like a star sapphire but with just linear needles of glow instead of the starburst shape. But a very beautiful stone. The place I purchased it from in France told me the sapphire is natural, but likely heat treated, they also provided the 3 carat weight estimation for the center stone.

French hallmarks for 18k, platinum, and with a partial goldsmith stamp.

Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:

Ring is currently about a size 6. The ring face is 21x15mm. The sapphire is about 813x5.5mm and the diamonds each 3mm. Weighs 3.5g.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are in estate condition. Wonderful to see the sapphire with so few abrasions, it has a wonderful sheen and polish. Just a few tiny flea bites and scratches seen under magnification. As an added bonus the sapphire is especially secure with long prongs. Typical antique diamonds with some warm hues, a few natural frosty or speck inclusions under magnification, I don't see any chips. I cleaned this piece multiple times and gave it a long soak and still wasn't able to get all of the build up, which I feel may be contributing to some of the warmth to the diamonds .
I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any buildup or warmth to the stones, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : )
A fantastic and eye catching piece with that very pretty coloring and glittering diamonds that are very eye catching.

But of course due to age - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition.

I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
