ABOUT:
French antique unisex gypsy ring set with .45 carat (approx) old mine cut diamond in a domed linear setting. Layers well with other bands with the domed top. This one has a great geometric look with the linear open work shoulders.
This is a Paris find. It bears French hallmarks for 18k gold, it has a warm, rosy patina. Not the vibrant pink rose gold of today but definitely a rosy hue.
The gypsy ring was incredibly popular during the Victorian era into the early 1900s and its timeless design remains an ever favored and wearable choice for today.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Currently a size 8 on my ring sizer mandrel, a little over but does not reach 8 1/4. The diamond is about 4.7mm so around .45 carat. Ring face is 6mm north south, tapering towards the back but remaining wide. It stands 4.6mm off the finger.
Ring weighs 4.2g.
CONDITION NOTES:
No damage but as is typical for antique diamonds, it has a V shaped linear inclusion that is faint gray and slightly eye visible. No nicks or damage. The stone moves the tiniest fraction but is secure. Just a good idea to keep an eye on the prongs over time and additional wear. Of course re-enforcement is always possible if desired by your local jeweler but most of my buyers opt for special occasion wear and original condition as this is what we expect to see on a piece of this age in original condition.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
