ABOUT:
Twenty seven untamed old mine cut diamonds on this nearly 1 inch north south navette make this one an impactful, dramatic and sparkly piece. Fun to wear! This navette is a Paris find in 18k buttery gold topped in bright platinum as was customary for the time to set the stones in a white metal. Quite a sturdy piece with nice quality hand feel. I am always drawn to navettes, they are so attention grabbing.

I say these old diamonds are untamed because the cuts are clearly hand chiseled, all irregular, some with the high crowns and long triangular scissor cuts, giving the ring face a cobblestone appearance and a wonderful sparkle.

French hallmark for 18k with a partial gold smith and initial stamp.

MEASUREMENTS:
Exact depth of the diamonds is unknown as I would not remove them. The largest center old mine cut measures about 3mm. There are eight in the 2-2.5mm range and 18 of them are around 1.8mm give or take. So just using online calculators and estimates I am getting 0.86 total weight in diamonds.

The ring is a size 6 1/2 and weighs 4.5g. The ring face is 24x8mm and stands 4.2mm tall off the finger.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. This one is in all original condition with some wear and on a piece of this age with small stones, we usually recommend more gentle, special occasion wear because some of the prongs could use reinforcing for more regular wear (you'd want to find a jeweler with a laser welder). One of the diamonds on the edge towards the middle teeters in the setting but it cannot come free. None of the other stones move but there are worn prongs here and there that could be reinforced or again handle gentle wear which many collectors do anyway. Priced accordingly to sell as is. Typical antique diamonds with some natural inclusions and a few nicks and scuffs. No dark carbon inclusions, they are all faint inclusions and only very slightly eye visible. Some warm hues to a few diamonds, one appears almost pale green under lit magnification but to the eye just warmer, you can look for it in the sunlight pictures. A few rough or frosty girdle edges. Still - A Wonderful and impactful antique sparkler.

But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
