ABOUT:
Beautiful French antique earrings in 18k gold with long prong settings holding nice sized, chunky old cushion cut clear paste stones meant to look like diamonds. Interesting old cut with like a 6 sided star or kaleidoscope when looking through the stones under magnification. The stones have a deep / chunky cut and are around .75 carat each / 1.5 carat total.
Belle Epoque era pair of earrings that I acquired in France. So romantic with the buttery antique gold and beautiful Victorian settings, they have rosy highlights from age and patina. They are hinged at the back and hook into the ear from the back to latch into the top front of the earring.
Each is hallmarked with the French hallmark for 18k gold with a goldsmith stamp. They are also stamped with an old serial number.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
They measure about 17mm top to bottom, the paste stones are about 5.5mm.
They weigh 3.2g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
A worn prong here and there but both stones secure. These do take a bit of practice to wear with inserting from the back, the hooked fronts, the 100 plus year old hinges and the somewhat awkward way to latch them until you get used to it, but they are always very very popular. Some nicks and facet abrasions, one more than the other but a lovely bright color and sparkle.
But as with all my pre-owned pieces - Please note this is not a mint condition item. They are antique and have age appropriate wear and use.
