ABOUT:
I love French antique earrings and have had many, but these really pop with a lovely color and sparkle.
These are a Paris find, crafted in 18k white gold with straight posts and a hinged back that latches to the post. At the center is a blue synthetic gemstone which tests in the tourmaline iolite section of my gem tester, meant to look like sapphires. They are surrounded by a halo of nine rose cut diamonds on each totaling almost a carat between the pair.
Would be a beautiful something old and something blue for a bride. As well as a special heirloom piece to pass down.
HALLMARKS:
French hallmarks for 18k gold.
Antique box in photos is not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
They measure about 11mm from the post at the top to the bottom of the halo, which is 9mm wide. Combined weight is 3.2g. Each blue gem is about 4.5mm in diameter. The diamonds are 2mm each give or take. Exact depth and thereby carat weight are unknown as I would never remove them. Just using online estimations with the 18 diamonds I am getting about 0.9 carat / .9ctw (total weight) in diamonds.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Some nicks and inclusions to both the blue stone and the diamonds. Typical old rose cuts with some frosty natural inclusions, nibbles, a rough or frosty edge here and there. This is what we typically see on 100 year old rose cuts. Some of this is eye visible if you are really studying it up close but would not be very evident while wearing, they just provide that wonderful sparkle. No dark spot or carbon inclusions. No cracks or major areas of loss. Hinges are excellent, latches very secure. A worn prong here or there but enough remaining to hold the stones securely. But As with all my pre-owned pieces - Please note this is not a mint condition item.
