Special stock drop of some fun figural antique pieces, several of these are personal collection releases that I have enjoyed! : )
Nice sized gemset barrel clasp. This French Victorian era piece is set with square flat cut garnets (and one replacement ruby). They rise up in bezels above a striped enamel background. The lever insert separates from the barrel portion and they would have been attached to separate ends of a chain. Now days they are popular to add to a neckmess or to wear in the front or to the side of a chain as a pendant.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers "draw out" an example to get an idea of scale in person.
French hallmark for 18k gold on the loop of the barrel and on the clasp insert.
Antique Boxes, props, chains, mice : ) not included. I just laid it over my staging chain to show examples of how to wear.
MEASUREMENTS:
25mm end to end by 10mm deep. It weighs 3.2g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
One garnet was replaced with a ruby which has a great color match. It is only noticeable if you study the stone shape as the pinched bezels hide the difference in shape. Some chips with shallow flakes of loss to two of the stones at the top corner facets but they still appear complete to the eye and fill the bezels.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
