FRENCH Antique Lucky Number # 13 Pendant 18k Gold Belle Epoque Victorian Good Luck Gift Figural Thirteen Amulet Charm
ABOUT:
Openwork geometric lucky 13 pendant charm in 18k gold. Little engraved texture on the cut out numbers. It is surrounded by a scrolled shield design with openwork details.
French antique piece. 13 was traditionally considered a lucky number in France prior to World War I, and was used in numerical form as a good luck symbol during the Victorian to Art Nouveau period. This would be cute on a split ring with the lucky pig and roulette wheel listed separately to wear as an amulet. : )
French hallmark for 18k gold with a goldsmith stamp.
These are collectible because there are many styles and variations which make beautiful additions to a charm bracelet, amulet necklace, neckmess or neckstack. Textbook French!
It is a fairly lightweight piece - it is real 18k gold, not gold plated or gold filled.
The chain in the photos is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
23 mm tall to the top of the attached loop by 19 mm wide. Weighs just 1.4 g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
It has a dainty hand feel. A tiny ripple here or there.
Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.
There are no dark spots to the gold, it just sometimes reflects its surroundings.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
