French Antique YELLOW Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Gypsy Ring 5.9g 18k Gold Domed Chunky Band

One of my most requested pieces must be the timeless gypsy. Here is a fun one in sturdy, rosy warm antique 18k gold and it is set with a small yellow diamond with a wonderfully high crown cropping out of the chunky, domed face.

These are scarce and sought after for a few reasons - the first is that all antique hand cut antique diamonds of course have a more limited supply since they are no longer made in this way. There are only so many in existence compared to the millions of carats of modern machine cut diamonds made every year. These have withstood the test of time.

The second is the color - it is believed that only 1 carat in every 10,000 carats mined are yellow diamonds. So putting the old hand cut together with the color makes a yellow OMC even more scarce.

This ring is substantial enough to wear alone but also layers well with other pieces. In the rich rosy 18k gold, the warm diamond is a lovely accent that appears quite yellow especially in the sunlight (you might compare it against the other stones in the group pics to get an idea of color?). This coloring was often chosen intentionally by diamond cutters of the time who hand cut these stones long before the "Four C's" and machine cut diamonds came in to play, and are also sought after by antique addicts / collectors : ).

HALLMARKS:
No hallmarks remain which is common for French pieces as they are marked in the back and often lost during a sizing. But sold to me from a reputable source in France where the standard is 18k and tested to confirm.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
It is a snug size 5. The ring face is 7.7mm north south and domes about 4mm tall off the finger. It weighs 5.9 grams. The diamonds is small, around 3mm is the visible portion, it widens out an unknown amount in the bezel.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
I don't see any glaring issues, a few tiny flea bites under strong magnification only and a perfectly straight line scratch or needle inclusion along the table? Not in the least eye visible.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
