FRIENDSHIP French Actor PROVENANCE Large Heavy 14.5g 18k Gold Vintage Medallion Pendant Best Friend Ooak Gift

ABOUT:

This vintage, heavy (14.4 grams), solid 18k gold, large (1.4 inch) medal / pendant is a personal collection release of mine that I acquired in Paris with a great story and provenance. This piece was originally given as a gift from the French actor Jean-Paul Charles Belmondo to his best friend Charly Koubesserian, whose collection it came from.

I love jewelry with a story and jewelry with words so I enjoyed wearing this piece of film history.
The large and substantial pendant reads in French: "With all my Friendship, Your Friend, Jean-Paul."
The back is blank and could even be personalized.

Jean-Paul Charles Belmondo was a major French film star for several decades from the 1960s onward. During his career, he was called the French counterpart of actors such as James Dean, Marlon Brando and Humphrey Bogart. Described as an icon and national treasure of France, Belmondo was seen as an influential actor in French cinema and an important figure in shaping European cinema.

Charly Koubesserian was also a legendary figure of French cinema. He was an actor and professional makeup artist who participated in more than 150 films. He worked with many famous characters and movie stars, including his best friend Belmondo for 27 years, and also notably, with General Charles de Gaulle when he was President of France.

Jean-Paul and Charly's friendship was well known and documented by their families - all their jokes shared and fun filled memories. They spent many family occasions and holidays together, sometimes photographed attending events together.

Beautiful quality and very sturdy, it would make a great gift for a movie enthusiast, or for anyone who is interested in vintage pieces with known stories.

French hallmark for 18k gold on the back upper corner. It has high shine finish that shimmers and catches the light.

Antique box not included.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Measuring 43mm from top of the bale to bottom and 28mm wide. It weighs a Very sturdy 14.6g.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Surface wear notable as it can catch the light and is magnified by the sunshine. There is some wear to the engraved text as well so it was clearly worn and enjoyed by Mr. Koubesserian. Still very legible however. There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it reflects its surroundings.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
