ABOUT:

Gorgeously ornate Belle Epoque era ring. The rectangular face has a ribbon garland outline. There is an old mine cut diamond at the center and many many little rose cuts in the frame and background - pretty as a picture! My favorite part is the way the ribbon curls at the corners giving it a 3D effect with additional diamonds set into the low relief areas. Found in Paris, France with their hallmarks for 18k and platinum as the ring face is topped in the latter.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
I couldn't get an exact measurement because it has two ball rivets in gold soldered to the back of the shank but it seems to wear at around 6 1/2. The purpose of these beads can be for sizing, or arthritic fingers, but also as is likely the case with this ring – to provide weight and a hold at the base of the finger since the piece is top heavy, so it doesn't spin sideways while wearing. It can easily be removed by any jeweler, and especially if the buyer plans to have the piece sized.

Diamond: The old mine cut is about 4mm, nearly around 1/3 carat? With at least 60 little rose cuts set all around which do add up, I would think it is nearing a carat total weight in diamonds.
Ring face: 21x11mm
Height off finger: 5.8mm tall.
Weight: 6.1g.

CONDITION NOTES:

This one was Covered in lotion and soap when I got it. I soaked and scrubbed it but I can still see some build up around the stones. I didn't want to put it in the ultra sonic with all the tiny rose cuts, and I don't like to get too aggressive on pieces like this with so many small stones but the buyer could give it a further soak and gentle detail cleaning if desired. These are typical old rose cut diamonds, cut by hand so they have the beautifully irregular and sometimes imperfect antique look to them. Some frosty / unpolished area shere and there to the old cut stones, probably just always cut that way. But to the eye they add a nice sparkle and antique look. No eye visible inclusions to the old mine cut and it has a nice bright white color, just some small natural inclusions under strong magnification.

The shank is out of round. It does not affect how it wears. A jeweler could easily straighten this if having the beads removed or having the piece sized. I would typically bend it back but it is comfortable to wear as is and with the shank a bit thin in the back, I didn't want to damage it.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
